As I said at the time, I think the RL daren't conclude that Chase would do that deliberately to a fellow player. If that had been the conclusion Chase would be lucky to have served his ban by this stage. But if you want consistency, surely he should receive the same ban as everyone irrespective of intent & injury?

Two very obvious points:

1. Consistency of treatment does not mean that everyone receives the same length of ban. It means that the process of identifying offences and deciding on guilt and punishment works in the same way for all incidents and alleged offenders. The outcome of each incident will depend on its own facts but it should be those facts and not the incompetence or bias of those involved in the process which determines whether the incident is properly dealt with during the game and then by the disciplinary panel.

2. To get a ban you need need to be sent off or put on report; many offences that would merit a red card and a ban are being overlooked or dealt with simply by the award of a penalty and as a result do not reach the disciplinary panel. Dropping an elbow on a tackled player would merit a 1-3 match ban under the guidelines but despite this offence being committed in the Wigan v Saints game the offender did not appear before the disciplinary panel.

Agree, though incompetence in tackling technique & refereeing are human traits that are impossible to eradicate. I don't believe there is any deliberate bias for or against teams from officials, though all will have their favourite teams.



Obviously a typo there but with videoing of all games I would think all incidents are reviewed by the RL. Just because a player doesn't appear in front of the panel doesn't mean he didn't have his offence reviewed & received a warning or decided no punishment was warranted. (The Perry incident was cheap & childish granted, a penalty was sufficient IMO).

A 4 match ban is a joke, if that was Ryan Bailey he'd be playing at the weekend

This sums it up for me and I really hop he can learn from this. If that had happened after 15 mins of a play off match then we would have been out. McIlorum has been set off twice in a couple of months and we have lost both games as a result. He played so well in the first half of the season and seemed to have replaced the more thuggish side of his game with controlled aggression. Indeed his all round game was a lot more controlled and measured and he was a much better player as a result. However in the last couple of months this has changed and he hasnt been playing as well. Granted the forwards havent been doing the business and maybe this has led to him being more frustarted and wound up but he still needs to keep his discipline.

I dont see why we cannot have some sort of VR at games All clubs have videos of the game wether on sky or not a simple hdd recorder would enable someone to have a look at an incident quite easily shortly after it has happened tho when to stop play would be an issue.

However our game is a physical contact sport and sometimes players can misjudge a tackle and theres a fine line between a huge hit and a dangerous tackle the hit on hodgeson in the cc as an example imo a bloody good hit tho wouldnt have been suprised if a pen had been awarded. But macs challenge was intentional and dangerous so a 3 match ban is fair

I don't see what was wrong with DD's tackling style. He launched himself at their chest & flattened them. Except Mal Maninga where he did it once & just bounced off, got up off the floor, chased after Mal & did it again.

According to Cummins on last nights GMR, apart from Mc Ilorum, he has not seen any tackle this season that warranted a red card???
By the way he got his story right with Childs before he came on air, Childs saw all of it and did'nt need Ganson or the Linesmen.

Cummings lied last night and everyone knows it. The blokes a disgrace and is stealing a living. There's zero consistency, where was the video ref jumping in to send Paul Wood off in the CC Final? Why didn't the ref go to the VR for that joke of a try after HT in the CC Semi? The whole refereeing set up is a shambles!

As a few have stated, the problem is the lack of consistency.

We have two types of games in SL - those on tv and those that are not. The video ref sent him off. Three games is also too harsh considering he missed most of the Saints game, but I wasn't expecting the 'beak' to be lenient. He doesn't play for Leeds after all.
