Not from me, i came on to chat about the incident and people would rather have a go because i'm from the warrington board. No wonder people hate coming on here.

| Just watched the game and before making my comment I would make two points
1 I'm pretty much neutral in that I prefer watching Wigan to Bradford but I would rather meet Bradford in the next round
2 I think Raynor definitely deserved sending off
My main point is that as far as the reaction Tomkins received from the Bradford fans he deserved everything he got. Anyone who has heard the story of the little boy who cried wolf should be able to see the point. I don't doubt that in this instance he was seriously hurt but I (and presumably anyone who watches RL regularly) have seen him go down as if he's been shot so often that it's impossible to tell the difference without the benefit of TV replays. I have said before that he has the potential to be one of the greats but until he learns to play the game fairly he never will be and as long as he continues to cheat - and that's what it is he will never have any respect beyond the DW

| Nobody deserves to get knocked cold because they 'cheat' - all players do it in every game at some point or other. If Tomkins 'cheats' and doesn't get caught then sobeit. He still deserves protection from thuggery. I'm in agreement with Nathan Brown to a degree - not about retribution but for greater protection for playmakers generally.
I don't have a huge issue with fans at a game booing an opponent immediately after an incident, even if they are prone, as there's a lot of heat of the moment emotion at games. I would be appalled if booing etc continues after its clear to everyone that the player is/could be seriously hurt (e.g. if a stretcher comes out). The worst behaviour is being glad of opponents injuries/hoping to see someone get hurt 'in cold blood'. That is pathetic.
As an aside, if a player gets KO'd (as in actually unconscious, even if for a few seconds), are they allowed back on the field in the same game? FWIW I don't think they should be, regardless of how clear headed they may appear.

It was amusing that the Bradford fans felt Raynor deserved applause when he left the field. God knows why. I'd be fuming if that was a Wigan player.
I agree with you on your last point though. Tbh, you'd hope the medical staff could judge whether they are fit or not to play again.

Thing is he "cries wolf" by pretending to have someone elses arm or whatever stuck in pointing out that they were trying to steal the ball illegally! He does not pretend to be knocked out and how you could suggest this is ridiculous he gets hit high and late all the time and hes usually up and to the ball quicker than the guy who hits him to see him stay down like that is only proof that he was truly injured he does not cry wolf. Well certainly I've never seen it.

To be fair it was only after receiving a few nasty high shots, a few which went unpunished, that Sam actually started going down easily when taken out high. This is not exactly something out of the ordinary. It's been done by players for decades and it's been done by current players and past players and at all levels from amateur to professional.
When I used to play the game I was always told to go down if I was hit high. Whilst that may have been because I was more use lying flat on the ground than with the ball in my hands, it's something that players will do and something coaches will tell players to do, especially if they are getting some rough treatment but no protection from officials. (Or in the case of Steve Prescott against Wigan, they just want to get someone sent off).
I've only seen Sam go down easily twice. Once against Hull KR when Dobson slapped him across the face as he made a break and against St Helens when Meli gave him a slap in the face. He tends to get up from the big hits and huge collisions unless he's genuinely hurt. Is it really cheating when a player infringes and you go down? It's probably seen as a bit soft, but when I was playing it was the only way I could get my own back for the bigger players getting away with some sh*thouse tactics.

Yeah they're allowed back on I'm sure I've seen fielden get knocked out go back on and be knocked out again in one match.

| I know we are all a little one eyed when it comes to our own teams but I think you will find that most none wiganers have a different view
Just out of curiosity what do you think of Lee Briers (I'd ask about a Hull player but I'm not sure which one(s) opposition fans have an issue with)

I dont like Lee Briers but we all know thats because hes a great talent and thats why people hate Tomkins they all claim its other things but its not its because he's the most promising young talent in SL.
The "blinkers" thing is incorrect though. A few years ago when Mathers ran up and knocked King out as soon as I saw it I said "ouch" and called mathers a "bell*nd" and cursed his name. Only absolute idiot fans applaud a player getting knocked out like the Bradford fans did today and booing?! WHAT!? We didn't even BOO McGuire (well we did until we saw he was injured as at first we thought he had just cheated you see) See the thing here is that Sam was scoring a try not cheating and yet people keep bringing up that we laughed at McGuire yes we had no sympathy but only a very very small minority of our fans actually said he deserved it or whatever. I hate what Raynor did it was not intentional that he hit him in the face but the fact he had his fist clenched says that he was certainly not trying to grab him and pull him away from the line which is what a player would be expected to do in that situation.
At the end of the day we got through and Sam is apparently OK now so I just hope he isnt affected by this because, what alot of people forget when they moan about him, is that he is going to be one hell of a player for England and if he gets scared of playing by sh*thouse tactics and not being helped by refs when he gets hit high all the time then England are gonna lose a brilliant player.

| If the comment about hating Sam Tomkins is aimed at me you are wide of the mark. I've never met the bloke and can honestly say I don't think I hate anyone.
It's fair to say I have very little respect for him which I think is a totally different thing
