| Godwin hardly made contact to be fair (but still deserved his ban) and a spear tackle is a lot worse that a chicken-wing tackle IMO. You can't break someone's neck with one of those...

| I dont see the problem with the bans or the fact that Wilkin complained, only he knows how much pain was caused, maybe he had a real case.
The real fact of the matter is the length of punishment, surely if during the game it was penalised, it would have been just that a penalty not a red card.
A 1 match ban for a chicken wing tackle to me suggests this is a sending off offence, which I find very hard to believe

If you have never seen it happen before and that it is only the realm of footballers, I can only assume you only started watching last weekend.'"
One of the very few good posts on this.
Lima has admitted his own guilt and yet people are still moaning at Wilkin for telling the ref about it?

| So a chicken wing tackle in a game is a penalty but after the game its a 1 match ban? They werent even chicken wing tackles imo but i suppose thats beside the point now.
We should tell all our players if they ever feel like they might of done a chicken wing tackle, tell the ref and concede a penalty and thats ok. In fact just snap the guys arm off but make sure the ref sees it and you wont get banned. Its fooking madness imo.

I think there's a big difference between a 1 match ban and a sending off, i.e. when Lima is banned Wigan will still field 13 players in their next 2 games and have the opportunity to rejig the side to cover the missing player. Completely different to playing with 12 men.

So anybody that appeals is innocent then?

Even if your 30 points up with 2 mins left?
How big do you think the difference is between a penalty during the game and a one match ban after it then?

| That Wilkin tackle was never a chicken wing tackle , You all must be blind or stupid, None of you saints fans would of said a tap if he had nt gone squealing to ref. Because you would nt of noticed because it was nt 1. I hope he appeals and gets 1 dropped .

You said Lima has admitted his guilt. Just because he hasnt appealed doesnt mean he has admitted his guilt does it?

There is also a big difference between conceding a penalty and being banned for a game!!
As long as the next player to be penalised for a chicken wing doesnt then get banned or vice versa the next player who does it without the ref noticeing gets a game ban!!
I suspect this wont happen! But hey o we are talking about the sport that can miss a player be yards offside and drop on a ball but get away with it whilst later in the same game offside be seen when no one is near offside!!

| I was obviously watching a different game.
As for Wilkin - I think Lockers summed up my thoughts perfectly.

| rlDetails finally up on RFL website - he pleaded guilty to BOTH offences.rl
Perhaps his defence of not knowing how to tackle without two referees (like in the NRL) wasn't the best strategy.
Hopefully those embarrassing themselves will take the cherry and white specs off now.

Not a bad defense from Wigan that. Obviously not good enough for the RFL though. Still a very harsh punishment imo.
But it's done dusted now and we have to move on.
