| If we bring in one or two overseas plus a kolpac player that quota number in our current squad would have to go.
So who would go to be replaced by whom?

For me Bailey and Phelps can go, others to be decided depending on form and who is available.

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

He is an aggresive prop and young aswell, I wouldn't mind us signing him or Dave Shillington from Canberra.

| Shillington, current origin and test player = no chance.
As for the NZ players they are a better target, but again i'd expect at least a 50% increase on what some of them are earning in the not too distant future.

To true, a lot of them are only in their early 20's so have to yet reach there full earning potential. No doubt their next contracts will dwarf their current one's.
On a side not Hemmings was commenting this morning after the test match, that having watched Cooper Cronk he's apparently not a patch on Kyle Eastmond. That was until McRae corrected him by stating there two completely different halfbacks, one being an organizer and the other being more of running halfback.

Putting aside the latest Eddie Hemmings BS, you're right - Cronk is an organiser and a great one. In a dreamworld, he would be the perfect signing for Wigan.

Does anyone know whether Cronk was always going to play 7 for the Aussies this morning? Or did he only play because of an injury to Thurston?
Your right he would compliment Sam perfectly, you've only got to ask Wigan Knight, he's been harping on about Cronk for a few good months now, and who can blame him he'd be a superb signing for us.
Here's hoping we aren't building ourselves up for a real disappointment signings wise, were all mentioning names such as Cronk, Finch and Manu yet so far there's been very very little in the press rumors wise as to who we'll be possibly signing for next year.

Listening to TWIL podcast and reading around they seemed to suggest that he did replace Thurston because of injury, although the selectors also concerned that Thurston is flirting with Union. I think that long term if Thurston doesn't commit to League then Cronk becomes 1st choice and any chance of him leaving NRL is nil.
On a seperate note Warea-Hargreaves isn't well thought of, from what I can gather they have him marked as a thug! Not sure how biased they are mind.

Oh the big names are out of the question as far as I'm concerned. The 'Lenagan' philosophy ensures that. It would be nice if we could compliment the large scale promotion of youngsters with a glamour signing but I can't see it at all. Expect at the most a couple of low key signings next year - possibly one from the NRL and one from SL.

He also thought Wellens was the best fullback in the World when Slater, Minichello, Stewart, Bowen, Campbell and Hunt were knocking around.
