Like you, I think he gets far too much stick, as do many other players at our club. He’s fast, he works hard and always gives his best. Anybody who watched his grand final win will know the lad can play rugby and play it well. I accept though, he has improvement in him and needs to find some consistency.'"
I'm glad our players have improvement in them. Sarginson, Gildart, Williams, Tautai are all not at their best but thankfully there's another 20 games in the season so I'm confident they will peak when it matters. Unfortunately it just didn't happen last season.

Tautai is frustrating the life out of me to be honest. He’s just not firing at all and in my view he’s dropped behind Navarette and Hamlin in the pecking order. He needs to really up his game.
Gildart and Williams are both below par but their involvement in our left edge attack has led to a shedful of tries so they’re doing something right.
If we can get the whole back line on top of their game as the season progresses we could really hurt a few teams and rack up a heck of a lot of points.
We’re 2nd and only lost 2 games by narrow margins without playing anywhere near our full potential. The grounds and weather have been shocking so far and now that the weather is improving I think we have a lot to be excited about.

It's up to Wigan/Gildart to come to an agreement that is satisfactory to both parties.
Personally he should merit the kind of pay Budgie/Sarge are on and if on the Open Market there'll be plenty who will pay him that.'"
Such as Saints.

Plenty of gossip about him going to Saints. It would be a big shame if that happened. At the moment you cannot see where we will get any players who will improve our squad. Few of the youngsters are ready to take over other than the wingers and possibly Ganson soon and I cannot see where our strike players are going to come from. Every possible change seems to herald a step back. Perhaps we will start to see a raft of NSW cup players taking over having been spotted on our recent jolly, if they will accept a pay cut and a room in a terraced house in Ince.

You say that it's a bad thing!
Srsly, it's one thing if Gildart goes to the NRL, but I would be gutted to see him go to Saints.

| Call me a cynic, and I am by the way, but I work in sales, marketing and PR.
The club are clearly building towards the releasing the news of Tomkins departure by releasing updates and positive stories.
Now what better way to appease fans than for it to find its way into the press that one of your young potential stars is a target for your most detested rivals....only for him to re-sign a new deal with Wigan.
Is Saints interest real? Probably, is the NRL interest real yet? Probably not. In my opinion are either realistic? No. Does retaining him become a bigger story if those rumours make there way to the media? Absolutely.
2/3 year deal with us then if he progresses as we all hope he can, he will be away to the NRL. That’s my prediction.

| I'd be willing to have a small wager he will stay and if he doesn't won't go to Saints, just won't happen of that im sure.

Makes sense. Similarly, Phil Wilkinson leaking Tomkins leaving doesn't make sense - Lenagan has him in his pocket - unless, Lenagan/Rads has asked him to leak it, to soften the blow. That's my theory at least.

| Maybe it's a classic case of misinformation by tge club, so when we announce sam has been extended everyone sees it as a major victory.
I sensed that 3 months ago the majority of wigan fans would happily have waved sam off. Now there's a threat he's going people can see what we woumd miss.

I think Rads has a bit more class about him than to do that. It’ll be pure club policy on the silence, it’s well known the club stays shtum until a signing/release is finalised and whatnot.
