| If Matty Smith has a slight injury then I would rest him.
The selection of Tierney & Bowen & Hampshire hopefully is to give Smith a rest.
Not sure why Manfredi is rested, hopefully not injured.
I'd go:-
Bowen
Tierney
Gelling
Sarginson
Burgess
Hampshire
Williams
Mossop
McIlorum
Clubb
Farrell L
Farrell C
Bateman
Bench:-
Greenwood
Sutton
Patrick
Tomkins L
Tautai & Matty Smith to miss out from the squad named.

I'd go
Manfredi was limping around with about ten mins to go Saturday so I presume he's got a knock.

| I wouldn't drop or rest Hampshire for Bowen, he's one player that needs games, more minutes will help him improve.

| Hampshire did as much to win us the game on Friday than anyone with that terrific try saving tackle a few minutes before the Burgess try. The one at the end wasn't bad either.
Interesting that both Bowen and Hampshire are in the squad - if both play you'd imagine Hampshire will play half back.

| I think Smith might be given a rest after picking up a knock which prevented him from taking that final conversion. Releasing Rocky into the halves, which is what everyone has wanted to see!
The other player I would rest is Bateman. He put a monster effort in against St Helens and has been our most consistent player this year IMO. He made around 45 tackles in just 70 minutes, as well as taking the ball in plenty of times! Bowen at fullback, Tierney on the wing, Patrick at loose. The rest will probably pick itself.

| The Crosby decision baffles me. In the 19 but not used on Friday, not selected Monday.

Guessing he's not quite ready. He wasn't actually in the final 19 on Friday as he didn't warm up and Greenwood (who wasn't named) did.

| he pulled up injured.
Shaun stated: "I am down a starting middle with losing Dom Crosby this morning so both teams are busted, we had to make changes but it's part of the game. "

An injury to a player who doesn't play for Saints.
Never.

| on Friday only 10 of our named 1st 17 squad actually played missing were:-
1. Bowen
2. Charnley
8. Crosby
10. Flower
13. O'loughlin
15. Thornley
16. Powell
goes to show that strength in depth of squad is important as Saints only had 6 of their 1st 17 named squad missing..
this is posted as tongue in cheek as the 1-17 are probably not the starting 17 if neither team had any injuries/suspensions

Aside from Bowen at the minute and possibly Thornley all of those get in a first choice Wigan 17.
I'm the first to hold my hands up and say Saints run of injuries has been very unlucky and it hurts them because they always seek to centre around their halfback options but that's up to them to get adequate cover.
If we were missing Williams and Smith we'd play Hampshire and Powell (as we did against Huddersfield) and if one of those two back ups got ruled out we'd put in Lockers or Sarginson and I'm sure we'd back Doran or Shorrocks to do the job.

| that's what a squad is for.....adequate cover for all eventualities, there will always be injuries in a full on contact sport. It's how you cope when you get them what counts

Was hoping nobody would pick up on that.
A bit cringeworthy but he's young and will learn. He's spoke his mind and is showing confidence but it's better to just keep it to yourself.
