| Seems like a predictable fall from the top of the u20's tree is starting to happen which is totally understandable. We've been the best side at that level for years and have churned out player after player but the clubs not going to keep replacing them year in year out especially when you get a good few moving up or going out on loan all at once.
Thankfully we've got more then enough to service the first team now and with a cracking u18's side coming through we'll be fine.

| The 20s just look a mess to me. A mixture of players playing first team, injury to Sam Powell (massive) and 11 having been out on dual-reg/loan at one time or another has just left an unsettled team. It's a hard task to deal with all that I suppose.

3076_1671446335.jpg SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS
For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg |

I agree.
To be fair Saints kicking game was far better than Wigans, and they exposed our left hand side defence for all four of their tries.

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

More the loss of Daz Fletcher IMO. There's still good enough players there but it shows what a great job Daz was doing.
Why they couldnt have found him a full time community role which incorporated his U20s duties at a decent wage is beyond me!

| First time I've seen the 20's this year (Friday night 6pm kick-offs ideal for me). Observations from tonight would be that we look fine in the forwards. We more than matched Saints in that department.
Poor at half back including an awful kicking game compared to Saints. To be fair the number 6 showed some glimpses towards the end when he started to take on the line. Hard to judge the rest of the back line off poor service/lack or organisation. Looked weak defensively out wide also particularly on the left hand side but some credit must go to Saints' attack on that side. Their number 3 looked a goodun.

A bit harsh on Hampshire (6) who is only seventeen years of age and in his first year after the U16's last year. He was up against Gaskell who has played at Superleague level. Four years is a big difference and to be fair I thought Burgess on the wing did a decent job v Foster (again giving four years away)
Hampshire made the break in the first half that should have brought a try but for the forward pass. I would like to have seen him take the opposition on more as he is very quick but probably needs to develop a little more physically.
The Saints centre was Mark Percival from Widnes who is a very good prospect indeed.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Surely our first choice under 20's team with a couple of first team players will get to the GF in the play-offs?
Loads are out on dual reg... some are in the first team... loads of lads are being asked to play above their current age group. Like you say Hampshire number 6! Playing against Gaskell with bags of super league experience in a key position.

| Caught this game and the Hull game last week, admit the no.6 Hampshire made a couple of errors in the saints game but think he is an exciting prospect. Most exciting half back I've seen in a while and he has the pace to match, think the occasion got to him a touch v saints which is understandable considering his age but he will only get better, definitely one to watch. Think the future is bright with the 18 prospects, backs Tierney and Burgess looking strong and will only get better both only being 17. Lever is flying under the radar but has a few 20s games under his belt and done well so despite the 20s bad run I think there is certainly something to look forward to.
