| There was no lack of discipline from him in either the play off game at Headingly or the Grand Final.
An out of date story as things have improved and times moved on. Next......

| Cracking player and has the sort of aggression we need to take it to the cons.
Good luck to him.

Spot on.
He was silly, probably got a dressing down from the coach and learned from his mistake.

| I think some people make too much of Tomkins being the most penalised player in Super League. Wigan were the most penalised club in the league and Tomkins played more game time than any other forward at the club. It's not that surprising that he tops the list.
In fact, in terms of penalties conceded per minutes on the field, Fielden and Coley would probably come out worse.
No one seems to mention Jon Wilkin having a problem with a lack of discipline, yet he's conceded more penalties per game than Tomkins. It's simply easier to say Tomkins is the most penalised player so he must be the worst disciplined.
Joel averages about 1.2 penalties per game, which isn't a major concern for a player who generally plays 80 minutes, makes more carries per game than his team mates and was the second top tackler at his club.

There's no place for rational thinking around here.

You made too much sense in that post.

| If I could pick one backrower from any team to play for Saints it would be Joel Tomkins without a doubt.
The best thing about Joel though, is a few years ago, he was consigned to the scrap heap by fans because he wasnt tearing it up at 18/19, but look at him now.
Its what annoys me about so called "fans". if they arent as good as Sam Tomkins at the same age they will never make it.

I do, but that probably doesn't count
I'm not overly worried about Tomkins playing for England, he probably knows that he'll get away with more playing for Wigan (all players playing for big clubs do in the domestic game) than he will playing for England in the lions den and will tailor his game accordingly. Most other players manage it and he doesn't look to be a particularly dumb player.

| He's big, he's strong, he's young, fast, agressive and can play the full 80. He tackles a lot and scores tries. Has the odd brain fart in attack. Got in the dream team this season. I reckon he was our 3rd best player over the full season.
If the other forwards are better and keep him out of the 17 the England pack will be hard to beat.
