It is in Greater Manchester, along with Salford, Tameside, Stockport, Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Rochdale, Oldham and Wigan.
The only time Man. United play in Manchester is when they have a game at Manchester City's ground.'"
Its in the boundry of the city of manchester, the county of greater manchester covers all of manchester also.

| Quote: Odemwingie "I love the team spirit with the lads, they are a proper TEAM.
They show great respect to us fans and they really do appreciate the support.
I loved the smiles on their faces as we all sang "we are top of the league".'"
I noticed the looks on their faces as we sang that too. The post match celebrations at Saints by the players was the best i've seen all season, shows Shaun Wane has instilled a bit of passion for the club! I must say it has worked wonders for Stuart Fielden

Incorrect.
The second part is nearly correct. There is no county of Greater Manchester, it is an administrative district.
The Tories created The County of Greater Manchester in 1974, then a few years later disbanded it.

| Its only stupid council boundaries, how can Wythenshawe be Manchester but you can walk for literally 30 seconds from the top of Deansgate and not be classed as Manchester??
Its like saying Central Park wasn't in Wigan but Newburgh the other side of Skem is.
Salford and Manchester are the same one city separated by line drawn by a man in a suit.
Old Trafford is closer than Eastlands to Manchester city centre anyway so they must be the real mancs.

Preston is a city --- No cathedral.
Blackburn has a cathedral --- Is not a city.
Salford was created a city before Manchester. Does that make Manchester a suburb of Salford?

| I am a blackburn fan, who is about to graduate from the university of central lancashire in PRESTON and lived there off and on for 3 years, support wigan (manchester neighbour) and live in warrington (invaded with mancunians) so i'm staying out of this debate.
and as a rovers fan at the game on saturday, my player game and clapped us (dont mean to rub it in)
Back on topic, i think over than the odd occastion the amount of players from wigan coming over to clap fans has always been of a good number. I do agree the reaction of the players is different now and you can see a natural smile on their faces and genuine excitment, but does that not come with success after all these are professional athletes who are very competitive, they feel as high as us when we win and i would have thought as low when we lose......but long may the winning continue
