Very true. In fact I've been having discussions with both board's resident ducks on this very subject!

| Back on topic - cracking win for Huddersfield last night. Maybe puts our thumping of them in a different light?

I hope I don’t sound like I’m drumming down our win because I’m not but Saints last week didn’t look particularly good and sounds like last night they weren’t either. It’s the WCC hangover IMO, I wouldn’t read too much into it but if it continues until after Good Friday there’s no complaints from me

| Always nice to see Saints losing games. I had a look through their own forum and some of the over reactions on there are hilarious. It’s always tough to get going again after a WCC game and even more so with a new coach. You’d think they’ve been on a 15 game losing streak the way some are going on.
I think the Saints fans will need to strap themselves in for a less entertaining season but they’ll be there or thereabouts for every trophy. They’re still the team to beat and with that front row will be tough to beat in big games.

| The WCC takes a lot out of our teams. Last year we lost at home to Huddersfield exactly the same weekend as Saints have. Saints are still going to have a big say in all the cups this year. However they don't seem as flamboyant this time around with most of their tries coming from inside the 20 metres area.

They’ve lost the best coach (by a street) in the league and that’s going to stunt them. Once Thompson goes at the end of this season it’ll be interesting to see how they can respond next year but they’re still the team to beat this year. I listened to a few Saints fans views last year and they have the best player in every position in the league by all accounts, so it’s a little surprising to see them lose a couple of games but there you go.

The loss of holbrook has been massive for us not just in terms of coaching but his overall involvement in the community. Be interesting to see what happens if he can lift the titans into the playoffs will a big club go for him

The guy seemed a really good bloke and the turnaround of that Saints team under him was huge. I think you judge a coach by the trophies they win but even more so by the improvements they get out of players. He took some of your lads to levels I wasn’t sure was possible. He made good players very good and turned some real average talent in to good players (Peyroux is one I always looked and and just couldn’t believe how much more Holbrook was getting from him).

| Quote: sergeant pepper "First of all how is it easier to support a big team? For a lesser side, a successful season would be potentially winning a couple of big games and scraping into the playoffs. There's no disappointment for you. When you support a big side you expect more and ultimately it's always 'what if/what could have been'. We've had SL winning seasons under Wane that many fans would dissect and potentially label as a 6 out of 10 season. I'm sure there's plenty of Saints fans our there smarting at the CC final loss - would Huddersfield fans be doing the same after winning the league in such an emphatic way?
Also Wigan wouldn't ever be in Bradford's position. This is a RL hotbed and even if we dropped out of SL we'd be back in a season - even if we'd have to play our reserves & sign a couple of journeymen. There's a passion for this club in the town.
Also sides like yours better pray that teams like Wigan, Saints or Leeds don't go down as that would be the end of RL in this country. You might not like it, but no one gives a t0ss about Huddersfield Vs Catalan etc, but they do wanna watch the big boys play eachother. Do you think Sky would pay anything like a going rate without any of the big sides? Could the same be said of a SL without Huddersfield? Like I said in my OP - you bring nothing to the table.'"
What a horrible, cocky, arrogant post, could only be a wigan fan writing this, i thought this kind of attitude of only wigan matter had left yor fanbase but clearly not.
Apart from Wigan and St helens we have brought more junior players into super league than any other club in the last 5 years, we have an excellent academy that is producing some great young talent and we do all this on a budget despite having been at rock bottom many times over the last 40 years, and never having to cheat thesalry cap to do it.
clubs like ours should be applauded for what we do and have done against all the odds but clearly were not worthy of being in the same league as the mighty wigan and leeds etc.....grow up

| Before any Wigan supporter of today starts crowing about having a great fan base and the club will never descend to the level of Bradford Bulls, they should remember what happen to the club in the mid seventies when crowds slumped to as low as two/three thousand and the club was relegated.
Especially when today, there are far more alternative attractions at weekends and the sporting scene is dominated by Football, Rugby Union and Sky Sports on television.
Today, it is all about success and winning trophies and if you do not do that Wigan is no different than clubs like Bradford Bulls, Huddersfield Giants, Halifax, Widnes Vikings etc.
A few seasons ago, even Leeds slumped to all time low for crowds which was far worse than what they have experienced over the last two/three seasons.
No Wigan supported should take the arrogant or blazy attitude that the fan base would remain if club suffered the same fate as Bradford Bulls.
We have been fortunate since the bad days of the seventies in having owners with money who have maintained success at the club and hopefully it will remain so in the future.

How many league titles have your academy won in the last decade?
