Not a chance Wigan will be anywhere near a relegation fight. We’ll click and we’ll win games. 5 games in and hitting the panic button already. I’ve come to expect nothing but negativity from most on here.

Can you not see why it might be a bit arrogant to suggest quite simply that we’ll click? Where’s the evidence for that? Different coach, different style, different set of players in key positions. It is too early to be convinced we’ll get relegated but the discussion needs to be had after Lam’s comments and his confusion over what’s going on.

It’s not arrogant at all it’s perspecive. Lam asked for patience and I’m prepared to be patient. We replaced 3 players from the GF winning side. In my view Bullock has been an improvement on Sutton, Hardaker has been as good a replacement for Tomkins as we could have hoped for and Greenwood has been superb since his 1st game.

I’m confident that we’ll improve because let’s face it, we can’t get much worse. We have some excellent rugby players at our club and I’ve always believed that form is temporary, class is permanent. I said I’d give it until Easter before I judge Lam and I will do just that.

The only danger (and Leeds are a good recent example of this) is that once confidence goes it can be very hard to get it back, we need a win and soon to stop the rot otherwise we could end up like Leeds did (and they had players on paper much better than their league position reflected).

My worry is that if Wigan perform against Wire like they did against Hudds then it could be a very heavy defeat and that could erode confidence even more. A good performance is needed next week.

I went to the WCC and came away pleased with the teams performance, if not the result. I went to the Hull and Hudds games and listened to the London game and just cannot believe the difference - we are now totally clueless! The last time we lost 4 in a row at the beginning of the season was 2006 I think, and we all know what nearly happened then. It could be a very long season.

A big few weeks lie ahead. Our next 4 fixtures need at least 2 wins. Wire away, Salford away, cats home Cas away.

Thats a tough 4 weeks but we need to pick up some points

The problem is the pressure will build massively if we lose the next few and start to get cut adrift by four+ points at the bottom. That's what happened in 2006. We clearly didn't have the worst squad in the league but the players became paralysed by fear and intense pressure.

I know it was a bad season that in 2006 but how exciting was the last month or so of that season?! Had some great wins and some of the atmospheres where great given that tho I hope there isn't a repeat of that season!!!

Our crowds went up as the season got worse! There was a real ‘backs to the wall’, all in it together mentality around the club and we were more galvanised then than I can recall for a very long time.

I wish our fans could adopt that same mentality now and get behind the club instead of the constant negativity and moaning. We all know we’re nowhere near where we’d like to be but just get to the game behind the lads. Being a supporter means being supportive! (Sits back and waits for happy clapper, they don’t deserve our support, I’d rather not spend my money and similar related comments).

Well I'm going on Friday and as my place of work is only 10 mins away from the HJ if things are really going badly I can always do the walk at HT and get some overtime in icon_biggrin.gif

There was a good reason for that. We sacked the coach and went and splashed out on a couple of players. I'll never forget Stuart Fielden coming over to the East Stand mid-game and geeing the crowd up. It was epic.

We signed a prop in Fielden and a half back in Dobson and off we went. Very unlucky not to make the playoffs and had we done so they were so fired up and on form I think we might have even won it.

Now if things get worse can you see IL doing that sort of thing because I can't. Note I am not saying we need to sack Lamb but we certainly need to consider looking to sign a couple of quality players starting at no 9. Do you think IL has the wherewithal or inclination to do this if needs be? I can't say I do.

It seems that all we want to do this season is avoid relegation. It is a shame that we have a lot of decent players who do not really complement each other. Take the centre position, I would happily have either player in the team but I would rather that the did not play on the same team because I like to see at least one big centre. At wing we have our nominal third and fourth choice wingers playing most weeks. Hankinson looked fat and immobile on Friday as did several of the forwards. Huddersfield looked to have an extra fear all Over the park.
We know that we lost too much talent last year and that several players are coming to the end of their playing careers so I would like to see some forward thinking. I would be happy if IL would say that this year is an opportunity for youngsters to stake a claim or at least that we are actively looking for players because other teams are getting better value for money. The problem is that it is our better players who are off contract at the end of the season rather than our make weights. When it is announced that George is going we will look like a distinctly threadbare team.
If you remember the last time that we were in this position we were forced to promote youngsters too early and it killed the careers of the likes of Brown. It would be a shame to see that happen to young Harry who could be a special talent. Unfortunately we do not have the hope of a big name signing being parachuted in, they have all been signed by our rivals. a026.gif

And last but not least, to all those people who wrote this team off. To all those people who critisized this team...tonight's for you. K. Sinfield, GF 2011:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_45465.jpg

There has never been a time in history when Wigan fans have ALL screamed "why can't we be playing Leeds Rhinos next match? They make us look like world beaters!".

Seriously, you would thrash us (even as badly as you think you are right now. If you don't believe me, watch a rerun of Hull v Leeds. Superleague v Championship standards.
