Yeah it was bad that, i mean punching each other in a bar in Leeds, not like they finished someones career during a game or anything like that is it, or trying to pick a player up who has a serious leg injury?

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

Oh my, that old chestnut... If I'd been on the pitch, I'd have picked the cheating scrotum up, and thrown him into the crowd...

The same player who played for several months after and blamed his club for continuing to play him?

No neither were sent to prison.
And if you read the case you refer to they hit a bloke who stole a girls phone and tried to run off.
Hardly the crime of the year.
Was Bateman involved in a fracas not so long ago?
I think there`s a lot of missed points on this forum and ours tbh.
Zak like I said is quality.
He is also a complete and utter plank who believes his own publicity due mainly to the company he keeps who blow smoke up his arris.
Leeds stuck by him and gave him plenty of chances which he spurned time and time again before we got rid much to my disappointment.
He was a revelation at Cas and had he kept himself out of trouble would have played for England.
He like many RL players are thick and it is known many abuse their bodies with either alcohol or drugs some get away with it others don`t.
I hope he does well at Wigan as once again he is in the last chance saloon.
Maybe Wane can do what others have not done.
He has managed it with a number of your players so fingers crossed.
No high ground from me just trying to point out the facts.
If Wigan are winning with Zak in the team the fans and the players will be happy I`m sure.

So I take it this is all lies? Moral high ground from Leeds fans is hard to stomach. Not that I think any club is squeaky clean. It just galls me when people act as if they are. (Not you btw, despite your post on your own forum)

No not lies it was a young offenders institute not prison as such hence my comment.
The report does not pick up on why the brawl took place but that is what happened.
My comment on the Rhinos board was in response to what some of your guys were saying on this forum.
FWIW it wasn`t the Leeds fans booing Tomkins when he played for England.
But Leeds as well as other clubs need to look closer to home IF they are taking the moral high ground as sadly it is rife throughout our sport as I`m sure it is in plenty of other sports.
The thing as it stands now is Zak would rather sign for Warrington and that in itself could cause tensions amongst his team mates if he does sign for Wigan.
But like I have said if your team is winning with him in it the fans and the players will be happy.

| I wonder if the club use the services of a psychoanalyst for the self destructive aspects of the players behaviour.

How do you know he wants to sign for Warrington if he does there is nothing stopping him.

Don't you see that you're making excuses for your player's past behaviour there? You cannot claim the moral high ground, when you are defending criminals in your own team. The fact is, you had two players who were convicted of a crime, and handed custodial sentences for said crimes. This is far worse than what Hardaker has done [this time]
Everyone likes to think that their club and players are squeaky clean. The harsh reality is that a lot of rugby players [Hock, Bateman, McIllorum etc - I use three Wigan players so I cannot be accused of bias] would most likely be in prison, or worse, if they were not exceptional rugby players.
If fans of other teams could just accept that if they signed Hardaker, they would be pleased with that outcome. Yes he has had issues, but he is also a world class player. You do not hear Saints fans decrying Barba's cocaine use, but you sure do hear it from all the other fans. But every single fan would have Barba in their team, and I count Wigan fans in that as well.

| Think you are missing my point Jeff or I am not explaining myself properly.
I am not taking the high ground.
Zak was one of the best players in the Leeds team and the same applied at Cas.
I`m actually saying that yes he is a plank and needs to grow up but he is going to be a dam good signing to any team if he can get his head into gear and he is not going to disrupt the team ethics at Wigan or anywhere else.
Leeds stood by him and others just like Wigan, Cas, Huddersfield and others have done the same with players who have gone off the rails.
My argument is that some Wigan fans are digging up stuff from years ago that either isn`t there or is there but is no longer relevant.
All clubs have their problems and good luck to Zak if it works out for him.
No moral high ground from me. I just wished he had stayed at Leeds and sorted himself out.
And in answer why he hasn`t signed for Warrington.
One of his mates at Wire is there and is trying to get him to sign, Zak wants to but Warrington don`t at this stage.
Trust me this is true.

With all due respect here Chapylad (and I know you're a decent and generally fair minded poster, so no offense intended) but your comments on your board are in response to what some people were saying on this board which was, in turn, a response to what had originally been said on your board! So whichever way you shake it up your post was a pop at Wigan when it should have been aimed at your own fans. You can't have it one way on this forum and another on your own. The boards are only a click away after all! Enough on that score though as I don't want to get in a tit-for-tat argument with you. As I said, I know you're a decent poster. In the spirit of letting it go I'll even let making the distinction between young offenders and prison slide!
Can I ask where you got your info from regarding Warrington. I'm guessing the player trying to get him signed is Charnley? For what it's worth, if this is true and in light of other 'developments' recently I wouldn't sign him for Wigan, good player or no.
