| Whatever the explanation, I just hope it means we get someone good.
And by good, I mean the finished article, someone who can step straight in and do a job for us.
it's interesting that the front row is where I feel we're weakest at present. None of our current props are real game-breakers.

Well, there aren't that many real game-breaking props in the game at present, and those that are are either unlikely to become available or would command a high wage. Ours are pretty good, especially when we get Flower back next season, and there are some excellent prospects coming up through the academy - not just Sutton but Field and Partington, and in a few years Kibula too.

Mickey Pea is OOC and moving back to SL. Plenty of proven experience & knows how to settle in the UK.
Could be a good option for 2 seasons or so until the above really kick on.

My feeling is that what happened tonight has happened too often this season. There is simply no go-forward in this Wigan side.
A very pedestrian Warrington team kept us in our own half for much of the game. When we had the ball, we looked weak and ineffective.
Not just the props' fault ... but Wire won the forward battle pretty decisively.

| tell me know why it is worth sending players out on loan at this time of year, performances and personal ambitions or reasoning aside, after last night's game...
lewis may have been poor of late and but at least he would have tried. why has navarette been told he won't get a game when players in his position, clubb aside, don't deserve their training kit.
I said this would come back to bite us and it already has.
and I don't care how successful we have been in recent years under Wane, history is of no significance in times like this. the team is being coached to death. the team is being picked by a man who still wants to play 80s hard man rugby. it doesn't work and we've only been recently successful because the standard in general hasn't been up to scratch elsewhere.
even IF we won the CC this year as well, the year would be deemed a success but all it would do for me is mask over the larger issues and then the club would not feel changes are required. I however, feel they are. the coaching staff. the players available should be matching any team in this league week in week out. so the problem does not lie with the players in my opinion.
I hope lewis and romain laugh their way over to france and come back to haunt us - and good luck to them.

| Going to be brutally honest in my opinion, and it is mine,I dont think Navarette was ever going to make it at Wigan he just wasnt good enough,no shame in it it just didnt wor out,i do wonder if he was brought over to help Escare settle that bit quicker? who knows he could have spent 10 years at Wigan and i dont think he would have made the grade.
Young Lewis he will make it elsewhere but not at Wigan,no issue with his speed but his frame doesnt help him but i think Catalan could well do him the world of good.

Rads has already covered that. The deadline for player registration for the Super 8s is coming up and we wanted to register Manfredi and Tierney deserves game time which he will get at Catalans. Who incidentally will play against teams like Featherstone and London so it's not an amazing scenario for Lewis.

apologies, I did actually know the reason for their loans, but my point is, Dom hasn't played for a year and will no way fit right back in. As for Romain; Wane doesn't like him despite not even given him enough of a chance to prove him wrong. I appreciate the players would have demanded first team action so were happy to take up the options, but I do not think these decisions will work well for us, just as they didn't last night.

Exactly good coaching required! Wane not that

| You can't hide from the fact that in the 6 years that Wane has been head coach, we have been successful. Not many credited him at first saying it was Madges team and methods etc but as we debate this, we're SL and world champions and still in the semi final of this seasons challenge cup. Now, according to some on here, that is all down to the strength of the opposition being poor in previous years. The man can't win!!
Last night was rubbish and it's not the first time we've been rubbish. We've got players back and getting fit now and we all expected more but clearly didn't get it. I still think we'll scare a few teams in the fight for top 4 (although I think we'll miss out) but I think we'll win the CC.

This, exactly. The perceived shortcomings of our other props don't come into it. I did think at one time that Navarette could do a job for us, in the light of unremarkable performances from some of our other props (looking at you,FPN!), but I am now persuaded that one swallow doesn't make a summer, and a handful of decent carries don't make up for poor defence and very questionable stamina. Tierney has been a good servant to the club, but he's never a full-back, and we aren't short of wingers, and they are all above him in the pecking order.

| Hello Wigan Fans.I have been hearing rumours from catalan fans for about 5 weeks that Navarette had turned up at one of our matches and said that he wanted to go home.I was much more concerned about his departure than about Escare's and I think he can become an effective prop-no more than that.I rate Tierney rather higher than you do
Catalans ,like Wigan, have had an astonishing number of injuries this year-at one point all 5 of our senior backrowers were out-but the team against Saint Helens tomorrow is the best we have put out this year .So I hope to meet again next year .You have again showed us that Rugby is an 80 minute game, though too many of our players do not seem to understand this Finally I am sorry to see Tomkins so far below par and hope that he can return to close to his former standard.

How do you know Wane doesn't like him? Did you ask him?
In my opinion Navarette started off pretty well for his first couple of games but dropped off very quickly and his performances became poor, probably because he was homesick as it's bound to be hard for a player to give it their all if they aren't in the right frame of mind.
We've got some cover back in the pack with Clubb, Sutton, Tautai, J Tomkins, FPN, Isa, Wells, Bretherton, Field and Barnes all capable of playing that role so if Romain is homesick it's only right to let him return.
As for Tierney, he just isn't good enough. Poor attacking fullback and 5th choice winger.
