On big money signings like Tommy Lee and Marty Smith of course!
In all seriousness though as I posted when Saints signed players like Tommy Lee and co, I think that's a worry for the game as a whole. If a big club like Saints can only muster rejects then the game as a whole can't be in a great shape. The more scary thing is I actually think the players they've signed will be good enough to improve them and take them close to honours.
This deal for the stadium just adds to those fears for the overall game.Yes the figures may be ok by modern standards but have some dignity!

I don't think many people are happy at Saints, with either the name of the ground or the calibre of two players, you have mentioned, I certainly am not, but the figure i have heard for the naming rights of the stadium were far to good to turn down, Matty Smith will be ok, as he was for you, a player who probably is only truly respected by his peers.

NK here is the conundrum.
How much is this record sponsorship actually worth. If it's so good why not release the figure?
Did Langtree actually pay anything for the naming of the stadium or was it part of contract for building the stadium?
Saints new kit sponsors for their home kit is actually a company who has as one of their major shareholders a major shareholder and director at Saints, Mike Coleman. In effect Saints are sponsoring themselves as they couldn't get a major shirt sponsor when Typhoo pulled out.

Meanwhile your renting & paying out.
Hilarious!!'"
You keep signing those record deals, winning nowt and losing millions.
That team over the Lump will keep making profits and lifting championships, in their rented stadium.
Now that's hilarious

| The end of the day, it's our stadium and we will obviously go to the biggest offer for naming rights.
The name doesn't mean anything.

Couldn't agree more, was funny at first but I must admit if it brings in extra revenue who cares. Although no where near the same spot light, but Wigan's Orrell base has had some weird names over the past few years and in this day money talks

I usually agree with most of your posts and actully come across well most of the time but I strongly disagree with this post.
I think most saints fans are pretty happy with the business we've done regarding our signings. Let's all be honest here, the days of big money signings and quality aussies are over.
Ryan Morgan is a good solid centre and will go well in super league. We've lacked balance in the centre for years but we now have Percival and Morgan who will both give us a threat on the edges.
Matty smith isn't a Cooper Cronk or Shaun Johnson but he's just won the grand final wirh your club and your fans are very harsh on Smith.
Douglas and Walker are to big hard working touch props that will compliment amor Walmsley and Thompson very well. The props are now up there with any In the league. Both showed up very well for Scotland against England, kiwis and oz.
Tommy Lee isn't a big name and probably not good enough for the 17 but he's cover at 7, 9 and 13. To many times we flog the hell out of Roby as we have no hooker but when robes needs a break he will step in. He can also cover the halves along with young Richardson. Over the past 3 years we've had Walsh, Fages, Turner, Wilkin, Wello and even Flanagan cover our halves as we had no cover. I know you will come back with why not throw young kids in but it doesn't always work that way.
We've brought in experience and leadership and we lacked that last year.
Sargison, clubb, Matty smith, Willie isa, the ugly prop you bring off bench with long hair (can't think of name), gelling was all bargain basement signings and didn't turn out to bad did they ?
Big question marks over your signings too. TL is getting on now and very injury prone. Was Burgess just a one season wonder as he looked awful in the NRL?

Burgess can't be a one season wonder as he was great for 2 full seasons for us, and if you watched the NRL you'd know that after he had actually gotten some real game time at Souths he was very good (infact a LOT of Souths fans wanted him to stay if you read their Twitter/Facebook posts on the NRL social media pages) and could have easily stayed at Souths if he hadn't already re-signed for us.
I guess we will see about Tommy L. If he can stay fit then he will be a great signing for us IMO, he is solid in defence, and attacks the line well. Plus he can do a proper job of filling in at Hooker if necessary.
With regards to our bargain basement signings that didnt turn out too badly, the difference is, Wigan have a record of making cheap signings into better players, whereas I can't really think of Saints doing this (Walmsley/Amor maybe?) if you think of Peyroux, Tasi, Owens, Dawson.

I think you've misinterpreted my post as me bagging Saints for those signings when I'm not. I'm bagging the game in this country for leaving a team like Saints in the position where the players they muster couldn't lace the boots of some of the players of yesteryear and because even though I think it's an average bunch of signings, I still believe they'll do well for you because the league is weak.
And I agree about our bargain bin recruits as well. One or two of them would have developed nicely in any era but some we get away with because the standard of the league over here is at an all time low.
As for our signings this year I'm happy tbh. Again going back to the quality of the league it's easily weak enough to make guys like Leuluai and Burgess two of the leagues better players. I'd beg to differ on Burgess in the NRL by the way. He didn't get much of a shot at the Roosters but he ended the season in really strong form for Souths. I sense he may have been a little hasty in deciding to come back and I wouldn't be surprised to see him go over again in the next 4 or 5 years.

I didn't bring bargain basement signings up, I was replying to a post suggesting we've only signed that type of player.
I was pointing out that Wigan have made many bargain basement signings over the years and they turned out well.

| Either way, I daresay e-cig advertising will go the same way as tobacco advertising in the not-too-distant future.

I imagine all contracts with e-cig companies wouid have to be honoured so it wouldn't effect this deal.
