I don't think a clear out is needed. Let's look who's leaving:
Sarginson - Good, bloody awful yet again. Multiple knock ons and not one pass to Manfredi. Let him go now for me.
Charnley out for with Burgess coming in - an improvement (but only if he gets the ball).
I'm going to join the masses here but Matty Smith is simply not good enough for Super League never mind Wigan. Look at the difference with Leeds since they signed James Segeyaro. Smith needs to go but we are stuck with him until the 2018 season.
link: www.skysports.com/rugby-league/n ... n-warriors
We can't offload him as I doubt any club in SL are daft enough to take him.
With regards to the coaching staff, there needs to be a complete re-think.
Can we improve from where we are under Shaun Wane, I'm not talking about grinding results out as we have been doing. Our defence is pretty sound, can we be confident of taking to a field knowing we can put 30-40 points on the board? Wigan are struggling to score more than a try per half at the moment. I actually fear for us next week against Wakefield.
Shaun Wane's contract is up in Feb 2017, where a clause then triggers to an annual rolling contract.
Either give him some assistance (preferred option) or its time for a change.

| I've said it before but the club giving Smith a 4 year deal was a shocking piece of business by KR and IL.

20333_1393344959.gif Current thoughts - Mago out or get running up them plantations, get fit or get rid.
Maybe a back up halfback, someone with a bit of experience on a short term deal.
Big tall strong running second rower, like a McMeekin or Sironen type back rower.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_20333.gif |

| Can't disagree with what has already been said. Ryan Sutton should be young player of the year IMO, he's a no nonsense prop with good hands who pulls his tripe out for the team.
I think all we are really lacking are ideas in attack, we seem to have no inside/dummy runners within 20 metres lateral of the PTB when we ship it out wide, therefore the opposition defence slides across with ease.
Add to this we play split halves which means we lose the running threat of Williams on the right, our forwards seem scared of offloading too and Sam Tomkins is still a way off being back to full confidence so at the minute he's a passenger.
For next year I think we need a decent back who can play fullback or centre of needed. Either Matty Russell/Ratchford would do or look overseas.

| Our backrow don't run any lines off the ball. We're missing Farrell and (dare I say it) Joel for this. Bateman and Isa don't bother.

This is what you get when you play "middles" and not proper 2nd rowers who run good lines, we really are missing Farrell on this front.

I've sobered up since last night but still totally convinced that KR and SW must go.
As I've said previously unlike the majority on here I believe that the vast majority of this squad are not good enough.
The Tierney disallowed try was a gimme but our backs just can't do the simple basics of the game.
SW seems to think that a bricklayer can lay bricks and know nothing about sand and cement.
I accept that a clear out in one season of 10 or more players isn't going to happen so I understand that the turnaround will take years and I for one wouldn't trust KR to change his socks let alone change the bulk of the squad.
I know SW and he won't change his methods indeed he will grow more and more it's us against the world approach.
It will get worse before it gets better.
The only change I can think of to try and improve our game is to move ST into the 6 shirt and put Williams at 7 with both players playing both sides of the park.
I've done now for the season and won't even bother with the Saints game later in the season. I have also cancelled my Wigan TV subscription for next year. IL is a businessman and he needs a nudge in his proverbials to get the message that fans will not put up with the shoite play and shoite management of the club.

What has Rads done to warrant him losing his position?
On the playing front I think next year we are an experienced utility back away from as good as we will get.
We don't need wholesale changes, if we did it would just make IL and KR inept, which they're not. We need minor changes such as an assistant with clout, that someone with focus on our attack, preferably fresh from the NRL, preferably a former test/origin halfback.
Adrian Lam or Trent Barrett would do for me.

KR has given Smith a 4 year contract, resigned JT, signed Pettyboune Isa Laukaki, allowed SW to continue despite consistently failing recently in big matches and allowed the general demeanour of the club to fall to niggly whinging team of part timers.
Will that do for starters?
He is totally and utterly out of his depth.
I can only assume he has zero control of financial matters but obviously indirectly everything falls into pounds shillings and pence.
He has signed TL who never cut it as a top class half and in all honesty I could kick better than TL after 5 or 6 pints of Hydes. Unless TL is our next coach I don't understand the signing.
KR is far too close to SW. it's a relationship doomed due to the cosy mates relationship and his inability to see that we are going backwards.
The buck stops at the top and KR is at the top of the pile.

| Isa runs good lines but couldnt burst through a wet paper bag. Never a second row forward. Hes a centre and should have stayed there. I think the reality is we are not as good as we thought we were and actually are a mid table side. Might be spending the cap but so are most now and had some shocking signings and taken in too many young players

ISA couldn't pass a decent ball if his life depended on it.
Useless forward and I couldn't even try to consider him to be a centre.
He epitomises what is wrong with the club. No thought, no brains but a good lad.

I agree Isa is not a top player but to be fair he was not signed as a starting player but as a squad player. He has played far more games than expected, for most of the season Tomkins (J), Farrell, Bateman, Lockers have been missing (often several at once) so Isa has had to play a lot more. As a low price squad player I doubt anyone would have had many issues but as a week in week out starting player he has been lacking. We have had to play Sutton or Tauti in the second row, Mossop as LF for heavens sake. We even lost Gregson who was showing up well. I think Isa whilst not being a stand out player has been steady but obviously when everyone is fit (if that ever happens) he will be at best a interchange player.

| My concern is the amount of injuries that we always seem to get and not all of them occur on the playing field quite a number happen in training. Either the conditioning of the players is wrong, or and as I suspect they are being flogged at training.

Have to say, Itchy, I watched the Warriors' golden point win over Penrith shortly after reading that, and if you can land the ball on a dime as Tommy did for Fusitua's try I suggest you get down to the DW pronto with your boots!
Again, in all seriousness, Tommy had a fine game, as he has the last few outings I've seen him, alternating between 7 and 9, linking the play well, still making those bell-ringer trademark tackles, and generally making a better balanced pair with Shaun Johnson than they've had since they mysteriously chose to give Chad Townsend back to the Sharks.
If we could get a good season out of him doing that, and then a coaching role moving on from there, I'd be well happy.
