If so, similar happened to Farrell.'"
Mossop and Tautai both doubtful although on their showings last Thursday they'd be lucky to get a place anyway even if we only have kids left in reserve.
The side should look pretty strong for Sunday apart from in the prop positions. We may well only have Crosby and Sutton fit with Burke and Wells to support.

Would have thought Clubb is out for 1 game max as he put an early plea in, otherwise it would make sense to contest it!

| No mention of Joel or Faz? Gone quiet on those two.
By the way - Reserves sound like they have gone to sleep 2nd half. winning 34-10 half time, currently losing 34-36.

| Joel and Flower were to be assessed this week the paper said earlier and things should be clearer over the next day or two.
As for Faz he's said his rib injury is getting there and he's back lifting weights in his piece in the Wigan evening post. He said he's touch and go for the Hull game.

Cheers. Things looking a bit brighter then! Hopefully by the time we play Leeds at Newcastle we won't be that far off.

It was a strange second half they just went to sleep.

| I believe Sam has been playing at half back in training.
ST and Williams at half back will give us a bit of pace at last providing ST has no long impact from his injury.

and it gives us important options at 9, which is an area where we are also suffering

Heard that also, makes sense, after barely playing for 12 months FB is an awfully exposed position to make your comeback.

| Sarge said a couple of weeks ago that when Sam is back he'll do a better job than him, when asked if he wanted to carry on playing FB. Has it changed since then?
If Tomkins does play in the halves I would expect Wane to move Williams rather than Smith to 9 anyway.

George is a much better tackler and runner and therefore more suited to playing hooker than Matty.

That's true but your hooker generally gets interchanged, and is less likely to get the ball in space. I'd want Williams on for the full 80 rather than Smith, and I'm sure you would agree that he's more likely to make something happen when he gets the ball in space. Perhaps having Williams switching between the two roles mid game could be the way to go, with Powell coming off the bench for Smith (Williams moving from 9 to 7 to accommodate). It worked pretty well in 2010 when we used to bring Deacon off the bench to push Leuluai to hooker.

Yes I do agree with that. Powell has been excellent this season against all predictions but I think that a combination of Powell and Williams would be better.
I'd want Sam in the halves for the rest of his career. It will take time for Sam to get properly match fit which to be fair, could take months rather than weeks. Remember he hardly played all last season too. He will take over the organisation of the team from Matty in any case.
I'd keep Sarge at full back too. Gildart should be given time in the centre as long as he's playing okay, which at the moment he is. All of which probably means that we need both a full back and a winger for next season, one of whom needs to be a kicker. Any ideas?

| Wane said after the game yesterday that Sam Tomkins return will put pressure on Sarginson and Gildart so it looks like he's pencilled in for full back unless Wane is bluffing.
These things don't always seem to work out but he also stated that theres a god chance everyone bar Micky Mac will be back for the Hull game on Friday. That will be much needed going off their form yesterday!
