| Quote: FIOS "Best performance so far but still not great. We have a lot of improvement in us which is a good thing at this stage in the season.
Gildart is class. The best wigan produced centre in a very long time.'"
I said to tonight it's a shame Gildart isn't half a foot taller and a stone heavier but I changed my mind because had he a bigger frame I doubt he'd be quite as smart at working space or as elusive on his feet. He's defensively sound as well and for a 20 year old kid you can't help but be impressed with his maturity and confidence.

Powerful centres with good hands are like golddust in the modern game. But Gildart has
real potential thats for sure

| Sarge doesn't have the vision to be a centre or good attacking FB. It showed tonight in that he got into the line on several occasions and it looked like once he'd got there he didn't know what to do next. The pass into touch was a case in point. Last tackle, pass not really on due to defenders marking the two wide players so a kick behind was in this instance the better bet, not a bullet pass into touch. Yet in previous weeks he has just hoofed the down the pitch sometimes early in the tackle count to groans from the crowd when there has been no need. He's very fast and puts the effort in but I don't think he has it upstairs to be a great player.
Gildart just looks the part. His try took some scoring and was a key moment I thought.
As to the game I thought our passing an handling in the first half was poor and we should have got more than a six nil lead given the field position we had. I think Leeds giving away a lot of penalties was as bad from their point of view.
The second half was so much better and probably the best 40 mins I have seen Wigan play so far this season. The forwards were dominant and I thought young Sutton had a blinder. Clubb was good as well.
An enjoyable night at the DW despite a long queue to leave traffic wise. My son was home from Uni and we took a mate of his who lives in Aberystwyth to his first live RL match - he's a Leeds fan as well!

Best bit was when they started the face-saving WWII era chants. Been there, done it - only never as early in a game - and can certify that the sense of defiant euphoria it generates lasts for precisely 10 seconds after the final whistle.

| Did Leeds really need a coach, in a high viz shirt, permanently in the defensive line? That has got to be stopped. It was embarrassing to see him rearranging the line during play.

I thought l had gone back in time and was watching St Cuthberts U9s. Is this actually allowed?

The NRL has Quote: Itchy Arsenal "In all cases, when trainers enter the field of play to either attend to an injured player, carry water, or deliver individual messages, they must immediately leave the field once their assigned task has been completed and return to the player's bench.'" Can't find it but I'm sure we have something equivalent.

We needed 13 one to one coaches on the field last night and then we still wouldn't have caused you a headache. Leeds were woeful last night and have blown already any chance of a top 4 finish. Challenge Cup run or bust this year for Rhinos.
Had to smile when the "Have you ever won the treble" chant went up, some of our younger fans still believe that RL is only in its 21st year. Apologies for their ignorance - history isn't on the curriculum in Leeds' schools.

| Great 2nd half performance but we really should have posted more points with the possession and field position we had in the first half. I know we had our first choice 1, 6 and 9 out but our attack just isn't sticking atm. Sarg is a good FB option until ST comes back, it wasn't a perfect display but he hasn't played in that position for nearly 2 years so I'd expect him to get his timing and passing ironed out with a few games.
The one thing that annoys me slightly, and has done for a couple of years now, is our pre match warm up. It looks like a load of under 14s messing about. We've got players stood 10 yards away kicking to each other or running and handing off the post pads! They used to split in to 2 sides of the field and just run attacking drills over-and-over. I'm wondering if this is why the timing is looking so sloppy, and more effort needs to go into practising attacking plays?
