| One of the many ways in which I've always thought our sport was superior to, y'know, that other code, was that, despite the much great physical intensity, it was a cleaner game, with less cheap shots, and a mutual respect amongst the players. Realistically, I don't expect my team to be a Boy Scout troop, but what I've seen from the Warriors so far this season has been very disappointing . Not to mention counter-productive. Kicking out at opponents, for example, is unforgivable.

| I listened on Wish FM and will be looking forward to Bilko's assessment, he didn't sound to pleased on the Radio, how long have we to put up with no centres, no leaders! the supposed leaders are guilty ones for all our foul plays! I know we are only 3 games in but we should be better than this 2 games we have thrown away good leads, and all the other teams will be winding us up no end.

| Quote: NickyKiss "All roads seem to lead back to Blake Green when discussing our issues. He was a calming influence IMO and acted like the captain on the field, speaking to referees and calming the players down.
We're left with Tomkins, McIlorum, Bateman, Farrell etc as our leaders at the moment and all are letting us down on that front. They're all fantastic players but they're indisciplined and it's even rubbing off on cool heads like Charnley and Matty Smith.
I just want to hear Wane come out and bash them for it but sadly I think that's where it's coming from.'" ]
I couldn't agree more. McIloram and Farrell in particular were constantly pushing to the limits, as a Rovers fans who has utmost respect for Wigan as as club, I was really disappointed in how Wigan played the game today. I think you are going backwards with Wane.

| Discipline will have to be very good on Friday as Roby is the referee.
Like Hicks, when he makes a mistake against the home side and the crowd get on his back he will look to penalise the opposition to get the crowd to cheer and them off his back.
Hicks, Roby and Child are dreadful for it. IMO Child being being the worst.
If we are to get anything out of the game a squeaky clean discipline regime has to be in force.
The leadership group must lead and not follow their instincts and get dragged in to the name calling and push and shove antics that Cas (like HKR) will employ.
A tough night anyway but with top class discipline the points are there for the taking.

| Under Maguire Wigan looked extremely well drilled. They were aggressive too but without it spilling over into petulance and needless foul play. They used to execute the gameplan really well and were rarely knocked out of their stride. Now it seems some players (Farrell is the best example) have gone away from what made them initially successful and are over playing their hand with the rough stuff.
I wonder if Wane is overdoing the aggressive motivational side of things. Angry players don’t usually think straight. I think cooler heads need to take over.

Exactly, everybody can see it, the question is can Wane and the players sort it out ?

7914_1630875396.png I'm 49, I've had a brain haemorrhage and a triple bypass and I could still go out and play a reasonable game of rugby union. But I wouldn't last 30 seconds in rugby league.

| Not as far as some one us to go but maybe a start

Personally this is not far enough - a financial penalty would have more sway but it would have to be same ammount for each player based on earnings...
i.e sinbinning 10% of match fee or weekly wage
sent off 25% of match fee or weekly wage
Penalty for handbags 5%
That way everybody is being treated the same and the lower eraners are not penalised as much financially.
If in doubt - cut it out!

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| In my 20's i would not have seen 50 press-ups as ANY sort of punishment...

I hope we don't get the scenario were one of the less bright Wigan players knocks on and then starts doing his press-ups whilst the Cas players scoot off up the field.

| Like Benji, Sam T did the very same thing against London (or Quins) a few years ago.
As for the 50 press ups for a knock on, that in itself seems ok.
So what is the sanction for giving away a daft penalty? On the SLS Matty said we conceded 15 pens in the HKR match. No mention of the punishment for that!
No doubt there is one and it will be severe, they've had the sense not to publicly announce it.
I mentioned a financial fine in another thread. That was also suggested in an earlier reply.
The penalties against are as big a problem as knock ons, if not more so!

| Well, quite. Nobody knocks-on deliberately (although I accept it can happen if you're attempting an ill-advised offload, say), whereas you can choose to walk away from handbags.
