| Sarge is surely the man as a replacement full-back option?

| Sarginson is the best option at full back IMO. But that creates problems at Centre, especially if Thornley is injured. Gildart looks quick but his defence was exposed time and again. I'm sure this will improve in time though.
There was plenty of evidence yesterday for those who consider Hampshire to be stand off not a full back. He was poor under the high ball and his defence looks weak. But bad as he was in the first half at the beginning of the second he was excellent, when he moved to stand off.
I also think that Logan showed up well. Also a word for Sutton who looked the part.

Very impressed with Leigh. Played some expansive rugby, not easy in those conditions. There was a period in the second half when you couldn't get out of your own twenty when Wigan should have scored two or three but bombed the chances. I was surprised that you ended the game so strongly.
You deserved the win in the end. Must be favourites for the Super League next year. I would fancy your chances against many Super League sides after the performance in the Cup at Leeds and I would have thought that Wakey in particular, would be very worried.

Hampshire is the most exiting talent at halfback I have seen emerge at Wigan since I started watching Wigan in 1953/54.

That's a brave view at this point, I do see some greatness there but I'm waiting to see him get more game time this year.

Fully agree with all that. A strong pack, and I liked the look of your halves, too.

| The more I watch Rocky play fullback the more I think he's wasted. He's so much better attacking the line at stand off as shown yesterday that injection of pace causes havoc. He's not the tallest either so struggles under the high ball

We were our own worst enemy at times early in that 2 nd half, not sure we completed a set for 20 minutes with some daft plays ( running into touch 3 times, not to mention Penkys missed touchline kick )
Having said that your kids did inject some pace which caught us out at times, and much as I dont like Mr Wane, he should be congratulated for following your policy of blooding kids
A good game

| Williams has the number 6 shirt but form will tell if he gets the number 6 place.
At times Hampshire looked devastating at stand off against a very decent Leigh outfit.
With Bowen and Burgess leaving end of this season I'd try Tierney at fb to see how he goes before moving Sarginson there. LT did fine when he played there v Hull and scored a great try.
Thornley won't be back for a while so I'd leave Sargy at 4 as he was a revelation in the Four nations playing there.

Goobervision.
Point taken, in hindsight maybe I should have said 'potentially the best talent I have seen since Murphy'.
But it is not often you see a player with a searing pace coupled with a rugby brain, maybe ones head is turned with the prospect of what could be with the right handling.
And that is not trying to put him in a position that he is not used to whilst expecting the lad to adjust to first team Rugby.

Why would you move Sarginson to FB when he's just started to make an impact at Centre (a position that's incredibly weak in SL)?
We must be able to find another FB from somewhere.

Manfredi, after the way he caught that bomb, then again , I'm better than Bowen

Unfortunately, the better this kid is, the more likely the NRL or yawnion will be doing the handling.
Hope I'm wrong, he looks a phenomenal prospect from what little I've seen of him.

| That pace of the mark around the middle of the pitch could be devastating this year if he's used at stand off. He doesn't look as dangerous running on the end of those wide plays and teams seem to read him that bit easier.
It's not just his running game I like at Stand off either, he's got a good passing game and really looks to boss the team about. Show him half a gap though and he's gone!
I'm a big Williams fan but Hampshire could take the league by storm this year at 6 if he's given the chance.

When Bowen isn't available I would move Burgess to fullback, he is very good under the high ball and could be devastating in attack.
He is supposed to be going to the NRL at the end of the season so it wouldn't hinder his development as a winger for Wigan and it would give Manfredi much needed game time instead of only getting a game when Charnley or Burgess are out injured.
