| I think he's been great all year, last night though I was disappointed with his decisions with ball in hand and you need him to take the ball from a bomb.

| i know your all gutted having just lost a g/final but if flower does'nt have his brain fart you would probaly be champions again and remembering the good things bowens done this season.for me i think he's played well although i don't see him every week so i trust your judgment.your season was so nearly another successful one but for one moment of madness which will live long in the memory of every r.l fan.i remember talking to some wigan fans at central park when we was chanting for our then coach peter walsh to be sacked after 2 games ( +previous season) and they said how bad it was at wigan the year before.the year they was moaning about wigan won the double.bigger picture folks because from the outside looking in your not doing to bad.

He's been ok all year.
Flashes of brilliance mixed in with fundamental mistakes.
We win that game yesterday if Sam was at FB.

| Quote: Madderzahatter "Can't believe people are criticising anyone in that team apart from Flower. What about Bowen's try saver? You going to criticise Matty Smith while you're at it? We almost beat saints playing with 12 men for basically 80mins. We were awesome out there. Saints were terrible and only just managed to beat us. The rest of the team deserve a huge pat on the back, not criticism.'"
You're not supposed to come on here talking sense you know. As a contest it was pretty much over after two minutes and everyone was robbed of a proper game which could have been a classic but that most certainly was not Matty Bowen's fault. Think we all agree that the next generation full back needs to be filtered into the team and am pretty sure we will see that next season with Bowen still being around to give valuable advice

| I wasn't suggesting Bowen was the reason we lost yesterday. My point was that on the basis of the season he's been disappointing; delivering far less than you'd expect from a marquee signing from the NRL. For someone with so much experience, there have been big game situations that have actually been too much for him and he's made key errors. A year older, I don't see him adding any more to the team than what the likes of Hampshire would potentially do next year.

I thought Bowen went o.k yesterday apart from the early error from the kick.
His stats, along with the other three quarters were very impressive.

Matty Smith missing the penalty and not even getting the ball dead was a big turning point. Saints came down the field and Makinson scored soon after.

Once again, you don't really know that. Tomkins could've knocked on and could've been bumped off a few tackles hat Bowen made. Why isn't everyone slagging Smith off? Missed a sitter to tie the game and his overall kicking game was pretty poor. We lost because of Flower, end of.

| Bowen is one of the modern type of full backs who is geared towards attack, fine when your team is usually on top and can afford just an okay defensive FB.
When games are tight, the defensive elements (I believe) are far more important. Thought Bowen (and a few others) looked like they were playing catch up rugby after the sending off...understandable as they would be alive to the idea of needing a few points lead going into the last twenty minutes. He did choose a couple of wrong options when in attack though, supposedly his strong point, and not contesting a kick is a sin for any full back....had he done so, it would have made Makinson's try much more difficult.
Thought O'Loughlin was poor too. Perhaps trying too hard to lead by example once down to twelve, but he gave away some easy penalties and missed quite a few tackles.
In reality, with Green, Smith and Bowen and an energetic back line, you should have really score more which would have made the game difficult for Saints as we don't have very much creativity.

| Quote: CyberPieMan "If it wasn't for the massive let-down from Flower, Bowen's (lack of) performance would be the main topic (apart from the win).
Really poor tonight. Odd bursts of brilliance don't counter the number of unforced errors he made.'"
And how do you know he'd have made the same mistakes with 13 men on the pitch? Flower getting sent off was a game changer. Mistakes as the game wore on were bound to happen.
If you are going to criticise Bowen you may as well ask for Wane to be sacked because we won nothing this year. That would be stupid because clearly Flower cost us the GF. So it follows slagging Bowen off or any other players for mistakes in the GF is crazy.

| I've enjoyed watching Bowen this season but unfortunately he's been poor in the three biggest games - the WCC, CC QF and SL GF.
Was disappointed with his decision making on a couple of occasions - you would have hoped with his experience he would have been better there. More disappointed that he didn't challenge for the kick which led to Makinson's try.
I'm glad he's here next year as he's exciting to watch and a big threat on his day but the role really needs to be split 50/50 between him and Hampshire next year to ease the transition for the year after. I hope Wane picks the better performer for the big games and doesn't go with Bowen simply due to his experience.

| i thought Bowen was a bit slow for the last try where Wello popped a high kick up. Would'nt really class it as a bomb though.
I think Bowens agility is top draw and speed also but he's not that quick of the mark. Still a good player though.
