Flower is a Prop not a second row. Bateman is our future 13 not a specialist right side second row.

Bateman has played the vast majority of his rugby at second row, although I think it's been mostly on the left than the right. That certainly seems to be where he's expected to play as Burke looks like the one being primed to replace O'Loughlin. Bateman will be a quality back row but he's still a long way from his prime as a player.

Flower defends just fine at loose as he did through the play offs, he can defend in the middle with Lockers defendig that right side, then he can attack as a third prop with Lockers controlling things as usual. Bateman's been doing a good job off the bench at SR no issues there IMO

Baffling that anyone could say that we don't have a problem in that position.

We totally lack mobility and leadership in that channel. We have nobody in our squad at the moment capable if filling that role.

Exactly. As said it was supposed to be Clubb but that doesn't look a goer.
I do think Hughes has potential though. Before he got knocked out of his stride by being given the no 4 short last season I thought he looked like a young Joel T. Either way, it's potential and we need a HH replacement pretty quick or I think it will cost us dearly.

| I think the plan was Clubb would be the right side second row. I am sure we knew HH was gone prior to singing Clubb.
Clubb though whilst I think can be an asset to the team is not an asset anywhere other than up front.
Fax I feel is also struggling this year. Our second row has gone from being our strongest position to our weakest and it shows.

I am sure you mean Faz but yes it is much weaker though I thought Faz had his best game so far this season (well in the 2nd half). I think Silverwood really annoyed him and it was like a red rag to a bull. I felt he really lifted the team with his runs and drives.

Agreed. Farrell got the MOM and for once I think the sponsors got it right.

| Thought Faz was poor tonight. Bowen for me was comfortably man of the match.

I think he is talking about Larn Patrick.
My solution get James Roberts and put gelling or Thornley there, they both are big enough and make plenty of meters.

| Weren't all the tries down the left last week? Does that mean we need a left side second row as well?
For me the problem was a lack of numbers which causes goulding and charnley to rush out. They're in a no win position. Stay where they are and they leave a gap in the middle, rush out and they leave a gap out wide. I don't think there is a problem with anyone's tackling technique they just need to communicate better and improve on line speed especially when close to the line.
On the plus side we kept them tryless second half and Bateman had a lot to do with that. I'm not panicking.
How did Hansen get on with Salford last night? I was too busy watching Wigan win.
