If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

| Well, no doubting his talent. But, he treated Stains badly, he seems to be unhappy with his current team, would he fit into our "team" ethic...?

| Sam Powell has massive potential and Eastmond isn't a , so i would put Matty smith as a replacement hooker and have Eastmond starting 7 with blake green for this season at 6 and then let them fight it out for the next season.
Also this is a real chance to see if Marwan is up to signing a legit superstar.

| Personally. I cant see the point in splitting up a double winning half back partnership, but each to their own.

| Difficult one. I'm not sure where we'd put him without upsetting the apple cart but if he is available it's rare to have the oportunity to sign a player with that quality.
IMO he needs to play at FB or in the halves. Too small for centres. If possible (assuming Hardaker is nonesense) I'd sign him and loan him to Wakefield/London for a season to find his feet in league before replacing Bowen.

| No thank you, don't like his attitude. He is a Rugby mercenary and I prefer players who think it is a honour to play for WIGAN RL!

Always has been and always will be the case. The fact is in the past we have done this despite having good players in certain positions already and it is part of why we have the record we do.
Fans may be loyal to players but if the club starts being so when better players are available, we are stuffed.

Not to mention whichever union club he was at coaching all the talent out of him.

Perhaps I should've been clearer at the time, I meant those two as a pairing for England at 6 and 7. Quite happy with Smith. I look at us signing Sarginson and think Eastmond would be a lot better.

| He'd be a devastating fb. He's such a one off talent that I'd go for him regardless of using Bowen and Hampshire already.
His game doesn't suit half back.
I'd imagine salford will make a big play and build a team around him.

Quote: 21-12 "iirc he was a semi-permanent sick note when he was younger. I fancy hes even more injury prone a few years later...no thanks'" This will probably decide it, wigan have had a fair share of injuries and retirements but his record for a contact sport is poor.

He made ONE mistake and was advised to make it (by Martin Offiah I think?) He probably regrets this, we all fall into the trap of "the grass is always greener" trap, is he not allowed to make mistakes?

Didn't do Sonny Bill any harm...

To maintain the highest standards in sport you have to keep improving or the competition catches up.
It's a tough one because the guy is talented and ticks a lot of boxes but his fitness record is a huge barrier, sign him and a fitter younger player misses out.

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

| Depends how much he's stagnated / regressed playing union tbh for me. No league player ever comes back as good after a spell playing kick and clap and it always takes a while for them to even get back to as good as they were before they left!
Would be a risk but in the current wigan system we could hopefully get him back to a decent level in 6 months. A calculated risk?

| Why would we assume that returning players should fit straight in. Union and league are different games. I was watching Joel T trying to tackle from the kind of position he would rarely have found himself in in league, with wildly broken defensive lines and little support inside and out, and he looked as bad as everyone else. Their core skills are not ours and we should stop thinking in those terms. League is it's own master and beholden to no one else. Whenever Joel gets near a Union ruck it looks like the Keystonecops have arrived.
Perhaps some kind of education on the dangers of other codes should be introduced for our young stars. Just say no,you'll only look a prat.

| Another big risk is the organisation skills that he would need to play at 6/7 - has he lost those? It's fullback at best for him for the 1st season back and thats where Bowen is. It doesn't seem to sit right, it's bad timing, if he had said he wanted to switch 3 months ago we wouldn't be having this discussion, I think he'd be a straight swap for Sam at that time. Maybe Salford or Leeds?
