| Those three are a fair shortlist IMO. It's up to the players to vote now so no complaints whoever gets it.

Players have already voted. They've changed the system this year so a panel of 5 consisting of:
2 x current players chosen by the Players' Union
1 x previous MoS winner
1 x "broadcast" journo
1 x written journo
decide on the shortlist and the eventual winner taking into account player views.

| Charnley deserves to be on the list as the first man to score 40 tries in the summer era, and having played well in all our big games, in contrast to Brough, who has gone missing in their 2 biggest games. It would be odd and a shame if Peacock wins it but is unavailable for England in the World Cup, but that looks the likeliest outcome to me.

| Be very surprised if Brough won it. Not that he isn't deserving.
If he did that would be just so embarrassing for McNamara that I don't think Rugby League politics will allow it.
Lockers probably missed too mnay games now to win it.
Therefore to me it will be Jamie Peacock.
If he does win it the award will be very well deserved.

With you on this Lingfield just think how many tries he would have scored with a centre who actually passes him the ball in space on occasion

| I have seen as many games possible of Leeds on sky and Peacock to me opitomises what a "Man of steel" should be. He never takes a backward step, runs his blood to water and puts himself in the thick of action even when the rest of the team are playing below par. As much as Lockers is a King pin of our team and we suffer when he isn't there, this season I just feel that Jamie Peacock has busted a gut week in week out in attack and defence and leaves the field totally drained at the end of the match. He has given every ounce of energy he has for the team.

True. His standing as chairman of the players union no doubt got him this latest gig.

| Personally, I think its a testament to how good SOL really is to make the shortlist considering how little game time he's had this year. Would love him to win it but I think Peacock will get it considering the high regard people in this sport have for his attitude and professionalism.

| Peacock for me, he's been outstanding.
However, Brough will win it, even though he's vastly over rated, Eddie has creamed himself that many times this season over him that it will be impossible not to give it him.

Agree with this from what I've seen. I thought he was shot after last season and he has totally proved me wrong. How I hope we can hold onto our front rowers until they are in their thirties....

| SOL has played 3 fewer games than Peacock and has had more actual gametime than him. When you consider how he was playing early season, particularly in marshalling a very young team to runaway league leaders, it's actually a shame that his injuries have come at the back end of the season. There's a little of the 'out of sight, out of mind' around voting time to his being seen as the lesser choice. For the first half of the season he was the best player in the league and, great player though Peacock is, there would have been no contest for who was most important to their team at that time! Having said all that, I agree that he probably won't get it this time around unless the judges take a season-long view during their deliberations. Peacock or Brough would be worthy winners in my opinion, although certainly no more so than Lockers.
