Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

Not that I'm saying they shouldn't - the Broncos are a flagship club with unique challenges who should get all the help, financial and non-financial, that the RFL can give them.

As things are at the moment, why would you pick those two clubs before huddersfield and hkr?.
Bradford are a protected species so thats a bit silly of you.

Even with their slump at the end of last season Hudds still finished 7th. Losing them would adversley impact the quality of the league. Hull KR are usually up their too they have just had a bad season. Their clash with Hull FC is one of the leagues highlights too. Bradford went into administration, loads of people said they should have gone so it's hardly silly. We want teams who are either performing well, have a bit of money or are outside the heartlands. Bradford fall into none of those categories. It's a shame though, they do have a marketable product.

If I'm not mistaken Bradford would have finished above Huddersfield if it hadn't been for their 6 point deduction. Bradford are one of the most successful teams of SL with far bigger support & potential than the others. How is the salary cap going to be increased with fewer games, supporters, income?

Bradford might have finished a point above Hudds because Hudds had an off season and Bradford had that purple patch around the time they went into administration but generally Hudds have been the better side. I'll bet you £50 that Huddersfield will finish above Bradford in 2013 if you like? I wouldn't have fewer games, everyone can play each other thrice instead of twice. Attendances would be up because the average game would be higher quality and more important due to the top 5 play off. The cap could be raised because it would only need to be at a evel that the 6 richest could afford rather than the top 10 or so.

| The RL authorities should be ashamed of themselves. Its been obvious for years that the game has been failing to achieve financial stability, let alone growth and that the structures and management of the SL are not fit for purpose.

Bradford have finished something like 14 times above Hudds c/w 3 to Hudds in the SL era & get double HUdds crowds. Presumably you mean Hudds have been the better side over the previous 3 years as that suits your argument? Hudds only manage thanks to Davy's generosity (& long may that continue). They are no different to over half of SL clubs, or most pro sports clubs, in that respect. Only Leeds seem to manage & grow without a benefactor. Lets get rid of Saints as well as they lost a million the previous season.
I'll take your £50 bet if you take mine, Wire will finish above Salford.
I don't think 10 teams would work with the current format, just increasing the amount of times teams play each other would risk making the events stale & lead to lower attendances. I think it could work if there was an expanded world club challenge involving French clubs. But that is a while off without massive investment in the French game, commitment from Aus, & funding from TV. Chicken & egg. Your 10 game suggestion would need Sky approval, otherwise we would be fecked. It works in yawnion & cricket where the leagues are now secondary to European & limited over competitions, but they have the internationals to fund expansion.

And your credible solutions to the problems? It's easy & fashionable to make extreme statements, but, contrary to belief, there have been some decent talent on board with the RFL. Lindsay, Watkins, Waite, Walker, Lewis, Edwards are not stupid people & have struggled to make RL sustainable. No different from all major sports. Without huge TV revenue we are limited to what we can do. I am not a fan of Wood, but that is largely due to the image of a fat, stereotypical northerner he portrays to the media. What I would do different is for the RFL to take control of RL in London & direct development there, if the amateurish attempts there are to be believed.

I'm talking about the present day, realistically Huddersfield's on field prospects are better than Bradford's, surely you agree with that? Don't understand the rlevance of your Warrington-Salford bet :s I think there are a lot of stale events anyway, when we play Salford, Wakefield etc it's pretty damn boring. I'd rather play 3 close games against Leeds that 2 plus a drubbing against Salford.
