Don't want to speak for somebody else but I reckon he means that its irrelevant because we didn't win the grand final and didn't win the challenge cup.
When u strip a season back, they are the main objectives.

6 or 7 years ago i think 99% of fans would settle for what we've achieved in the last 3.

It might not have been the end of season we all hoped for but it has been a successful year. All the achievements have been mentioned and if we need to be reminded how bad it can get just think back to 2006.
No comparison between that season and this.
IL bought the club just prior to the 2008 season, so this is his 5th season.
Look at the state of the club on and off the field since he took over compared to the five and ten year periods prior to him buying the club.
The last two or three years Wigan RL has been winning trophies and making a financial profit.
So how many sporting clubs are doing that?
Is the club successful? You bet!

The club, by it's own definition needs to make a final and win a trophy to be successful. Therefore, by not making a final this season has been unsuccessful and there needs to be an inquest. The fans should not tolerate this type of failure. You need to get the attitude of a James Bond baddie. They never tolerate failure.

100% agree with what you are saying,since IL took over,the Club has progressed on the field and what is more important off the field.
The 'Central Park' set up is proving to be a benefit to the Town as well as the Club in other areas as well as Rugby League.
Success on the field every year may be nice ,but it cannot be demanded in this day and age.

We're heading in the right direction off the field (ie - we're making a profit, we're under the cap, we have a bright future)
We're heading in the right direction in terms of youth development
We have the right mix of youth and experience across the side

Stop panicing. If this side stays fit and fresh (something we've struggled to do for 2 years) then there won't be many sides will beat us

I agree. Given the players he had he got them playing worse than the previous coach. He also failed to meet his own expectations and I am not on about him saying he wanted to win all three trophies but what he said at the start of the season which was he felt he would improve the side. He said he wanted to cut out the losses where we lost close games or where we blew winnable fixtures. He clearly felt he could improve on Madge's record.

He would have been far better adopting the "if it aint broke don't fix it" attitude and just carried on maintaining a continuity of approach from Madge. Had he done so (and it was what I was expecting him to do) rather than changing it as he as done I reckon we would have made both finals.

Had we done that then his job would be safe and he could point to any failure to do the same next year to the loss of all the experience and quality that has just gone out of the door and say we are rebuilding. As it is he has a squad much poorer on paper and yet the pressure will be on to actually get to a final. A much harder thing to do when you look at the 2012 and 2013 squads. I don't think he will get a new contract if we fail to make a final two years in a row even if he delivers another league leaders shield.
