| As much as I dislike the great unwashed over the hill, to finish 3rd and go out at the semi-final stage represents a good season for them, considering how they started the season.
As much as it pains me to say it, Wigan are now the great underachievers - both last season and this we have bottled it in the playoffs.

Is it so hard to accept that you lost because your opposition outplayed you? Nowt to do with 'bottling', which is a Cockney expression anyway and should have no use in good Northern English.

Living in St Helens really does grate on you doesnt it old man? Pretty much nobody cares about the hubcap including most of the coaches.

Success is measured in trophy's (at least for me) so a poor year for both our clubs, I only hope Dire fall flat on their faces in the final now because the gloating will be hideous if they do finally win a championship'"

Thats the same opposition that we stuck a half-century on earlier in the season. If both teams had played to their full potential, Wigan would have wwon at a canter. Leeds played to their maximum and Wigan didnt show up, so I'd say yes they bottled it.

| I've always found threads like this strange and a little pointless. Things (especially in sport) have a habit of changing. I'm sure there were a lot of Saints fans having similar thoughts in the opposite direction back in 2005 when Bradford won the Super League and, incidentally, we last didn't make it to the grand final. Crazy how the landscape has changed since then.
Much like the Wigan envy-o-metre on the Saints board, I'm sure somebody will have great pleasure in digging this thread up in a couple of years!

Beating leeds in the regular season means nothing.
Or does every team leeds face bottle it in the playoffs?
Could be it was leeds who didn't play to their potential when you put 50 past them, and had they done so it would have been a close 50/50 game like friday.
