I agree, Wire have made a great move in signing up 3 of the - potentially - best 1/2 back British talent (OBrien being the 3rd) at a time when the imports have dried up. A move which will keep them up at the top when Briers Morley Hodgson etc call it a day.
Of course it helps when your salary cap is on the flexible side. |

I remember us taking a gamble on the cheap for a young overseas scrum half from Harlequins to replace Dennis Moran, wonder how he went on?  |

The blokes a good player, if you oook at the rest of Super League, Matty Smith and Blake Green will still be up there with the best pairing in SL, people like Hockmonster really wind me up, they obviously dont understand the salary cap, we cant afford state of origin players, but guess what.........neither can anybody else!!!!!!!! Its about signing the best you can and getting that potential out of them, Green has a good kicking game, excellent vision, and a good long and short passing game, he's exactly what we need.
Im not renewing my season ticket though unless we sign Thurston

According to some was classed as Rubbish 2007/2008ish beofre being classed as Rubbish only as a scrum half but a World Class 9 after a few appearences for his country.
Despite playing predominantly scrum half 2010 in a League leaders & Grand Final winning team and a Challenge cup winning team in 2011 He never made a scrum half and would be better at Hooker.
In 2012 he played SH for 17/18 games and was influential in some fantastic performances from that position before unfortunately breaking his leg whilst playing for the Exiles (coincedentally at half back) and subsequently Wigans season has spluttered along.
Returned to the Wigan team and played predominatly SH at HKR and was on the pitch for 7 of Wigans 8 tries.
Currently being touted by many as Mickey McCollorums replacement at 9 for the Play offs (Thank God for that Because MM apparently is no good as a Hooker anyway).

I think we should vote you and hockmonster onto the board at Wigan, your obviously far more intelligent about RL than Ian lenegan, Shaun Wane, Iestyn Harris and Paul Deacon.
Green will go well. Give him a chance and stop pretending its still the 1990's, il say it again WE CANT SIGN TOP CLASS AUSSIES ANYMORE. |
