47600_1370068151.jpg The Autumn Wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea,
With a rollocking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.
He growls as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.
The Autumn Wind is a raider,
Pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down,
And laugh when he's conquered and won.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47600.jpg |

I wish I could afford to go its always one of the best games of the year.'"
On paper you should beat us? Why? We could use the fact that we've knobbed Widnes with ease whilst playing reserve players whilst they beat you? I wouldn't even suggest that you had a better team on paper. Possibly only Tomkins, Charnley, Mossop, TL , O'loughlin and Hock getting in our 17.
The sensible thing to do would be to base it on the last three league meetings that have been won with ease by Wire. Although I don't think this will be the case saturday, an extra three days rest is sure to play a part for Wigan.

| Thank the lord it'll be tough. These games where were 20 points up after 20 mins and then switch off and play at 20% to get to 40 odd are doing us no favours in the build up to the play offs.
This one could go either way. They're a fine side and so are we. They have a good record against us and are more settled so I'd make them favourites but only just.
Looking forward to it.

| Great Warrington performance but.....(and i know i said this about Hull).
Saints are very poor.
No half-backs, average pack with the exception of TP and Roby.
oh and what is Wellens doing on the field?
Brown has a big job next season.
Thought Morley was immense for Warrington!

The fact they are third shows how poor this league is

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

If i'm being honest i though wire should have won by another 20 saints where gash last night if we played them 40-50 would have been put on them

So you wouldn't have Mickey Mc in over Higham the guy we got rid of and kept him?
Or Finch over briers and/or Myler?
We also played a lot of reserves against Widnes wane messed up there.
This seems to be the problem with Wire fans. They can never see another team playing reserves it's only an excuse when they do it. Even though your team wasn't really reserves anyway all those players have played a few times in the first team Wigan gave about 4 debuts.
And if you'd read my post it was based solely on how we have beaten saints three times this season by more convincing score lines.

| I think you may see a whole different Warrington side, come Saturdy afternoon. The short turnaround will have a pretty large bearing on the squad selection/rotation.

| Would it not be sensible for Tony Smith to start having a settled 17 from now till the end of the season? I would've thought that team that started last night will be the one Wigan face on Saturday.
Briers and Smith made it sound as if you've prepared for a two game turnaround, even though in all honesty, the turnaround isn't bad at all. It's a normal 5 days.
Should be a close one, Wigan certainly owe Wire one in the league!

68153_1344079532.jpg I'm 46 and I've had triple heart bypass surgery but, I could still put in a pretty good performance at International Rugby Union. I wouldn't last two minutes in Rugby League. - Graeme Lowe:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_68153.jpg |

| Last night was a typical Wire performance, good kicking, strong forwards and pressure defence, but it didn't scare me for Saturday at all. We should have destroyed them at home earlier in the season but our own mistakes cost us big time. If we play to the best of our ability and so do Wire then we will win because we are better.

A 5 day turnaround is like a 2 day turnaround for players who are over 30.

Five days turnaround isn't normal to me, as much as eight days isn't.
I would expect Carvell to come back on Saturday.
PS
Not wanting to sound churlish, but, the game could have been a lot more physical than it was. Which is a bit of a saving grace.

I believe we are better if we have our 1st choice 17 available. Think, however, we might be a bit light in the prop department on Saturday - wouldn't be if we had a fully fit and fired up Prescott together with Lima, Mossop and Eric. All back row forwards need to assert themselves as well - Faz and Tuson as well as Hansen, Hock and SOL.
If we had a fully fit Tommy and Pat as well, I'd be even more confident - we may have lost the last few league games, but we won the one crucial game last year ( CC Quarter final).
Warrington may find it difficult to back up so soon after last night's hard game - wouldn't be the first time a team struggles to maintain performance playing 2 tough games in 5 days.
