| People are not happy about him cutting on the inside, but put quite simply he hasnt got the pace to beat a man on the outside, nor a decent fend to stop him being put in touch.
Ideally he would be put at centre/SR but we have plenty of players in that position so for me he is doing a decent Job.

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubblegum.
Don't you struggle. Don't you fight. Don't you worry, cause it's your turn tonight!

| I like Gelling I think he's got a lot going for him, he just lacks that extra bit of pace to get around his opposite winger. He's a real handful in the tackle, has great feet and doesn't shirk the tough stuff.
I'd like to see him get a few games at centre to really judge him fairly.

| This lad with our coaching system should get better and better he is a raw talent and playing out of position but he seems to fit in with our style of play at the moment. Defensively good takes it in hard in our own 20 giving our forwards some time. In my view he is our best option at present and can only keep improving.

If he carried the ball in the correct hand he might well have a good fend.. He's easily big enough!

| well at least he is in the best place on the field to watch a master in the craft of centre play, being outside George can only be good for him to pick up how a centre should play the game at this level. He might be Waney's option for next year for all we know in place of George.

27588.gif "Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

| Some of the criticism for Gelling is ridiculous. If it was a young local lad people wouldn't be so harsh. He's 21 and has never played winger in his whole life until a few weeks ago. Yeah he ain't beating people on the outside but this season neither was Richards, he continually came back inside. He finished his try very well and made a couple of strong carries. He'll do better at centre/SR

| Quote: Cherry.Pie "I agree. When I've seen him this year he's been pretty unspectacular. He'll finish tries off like a natural winger will but he's not doing much anywhere else on the pitch. At the moment he'd be comparable to Jamie Foster.
If anyone deserves a shot on the wing it's Joe Burgess. If Williams is being considered for the first team then Burgess must be too.'"
Of the three youngsters Williams, Hampshire and Burgess, Burgess would get first chance for me, and I'm a big fan of all three.

Nothing to do with where he comes from, everything to do with how he's performing, and he just fails to make the best of chances and half-chances.
I agree he's got lots of potential, and I do think he'll come good eventually, but there are other players who have similar potential who aren't getting their chances to see if they can do better than him.

Ryan King would get murdered in defence and under the high ball. He ain't good enough from what I've seen. Richards often cuts inside

| You can't fail to recognise the fact that Ryan king is a very good winger.England 16s,England 18s . Last season top try scorer. Pushed Matty Russell close for man of the match in the academy final. This season he was injured in the first game of the season against Barrow .He was still injured when he was selected to play in a pointless friendly against South Wales scorpions. Actually limping in the warm up . This knocked him back a further 3 weeks. He has scored 16 tries in the nines so far and he is still getting his confidence and speed back. I watch every game of the academy and the problem lies mainly with the centre not distributing the ball . He has gone full games without getting a single pass , only getting the ball running from dummy half , On his debut he scored 2 tries taken extremely well outside Carmont and would have had his third only for a forward pass from hock. For me he should be given the oportunity to show what he can do . As for saying he would get mullered under the high ball , Ryan has a very safe pair of hands , very rarely knocking on and extremely safe under the high ball .

| Any winger new to the first team will be targeted, the physical presence that Gelling has gives him the advantage over the others being put forward for the first team.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| He is useful because he is such a handful to defenders. Seems to make more ground than other wingers. He didn't do anything wrong did he? All I saw was a raw athlete running hard and finishing off one good chance he got.
