I agree.
He did the club a big favour by playing on this year, let him retire in peace.

10172_1376829585.jpg Dan Sarginson: "This is a fantastic opportunity for me to join the biggest name in the competition" 18/10/2013
Tony Clubb: "This is a new exciting chapter of my life signing for Wigan and I couldn't be happier" 18/10/2013
Romain Navarrete: “I’m very happy to have signed for Wigan Warriors. As soon I knew that Wigan were interested, they were the only team that I wanted to sign for. To me, Wigan is the biggest Club in Rugby League and it will be an honour to pull on the famous Cherry-and-White jersey next year. I look forward to working with Shaun Wane and the players at Wigan.”:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10172.jpg |

| George will decide what's best for him and his family. He knows you're a long time retired, and will know what his body can handle. Fair to say he won't go on and play for anyone else, and Wigan will be his last club.

| if you watch his interview on the superleague website he admits he's glad he didnt retire at the end of last season and that he's just taking it game by game, but if you ask me he'd be up for another year especially if he finishes the season strong.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| Quote: ChrisA "Still the best centre in the league. If he was 26 and was supposed to sign for an NRL club but we managed to get him to stay for another year we'd be made up, what's the difference between that and retiring if the guy is still easily fit enough to play at the very top level to the highest standard?
Well worth another deal if we can convince him. Fans and players lOve him, I bet he's a coaches dream to have around also and as said we are losing enough quality this year.'"
Has been for a long time. So consistant since 2008.
One of the best things Noble did in his time here was signing Carmont.

Would really fear for George's long time health if he playes on.
The man is different class as a player and a person , clever enough to do the right thing.
Saw enough ex players over the Magic weekend who can now hardly walk in a straight line because they played too long and through the pain barrier . Hate that to happen to George .

| He's a massively underrated player. I got into a debate recently with morons on the Saints board who were arguing that he isn't, and has never been, very good. Newlove had been mentioned earlier in the thread and they went into meltdown when I pointed out that Newlove had never reached the heights Carmont did last season (and what a season it was from George - his WCC and Exiles performances amongst others will be remembered by Wigan fans for many, many years). The lack of respect shown to George by many non-Wigan fans is appalling, but is I suppose an indication of the fear and hatred that Wigan continue to inspire!
I hope George continues to prove them wrong. After a slow (by his own standards) start to 2012 Carmont now appears to be finding top class form again, in the last few matches there have been real indications that he may be getting near to his 2011 form again. His 80m+ run at the Etihad showed that he still has real pace (how the Slug must wish he was so lucky, not that the Mollusc was ever as fast as George is now!).
If at the end of this season he wants to carry on playing and thinks he can do so at top level then I would love to see Carmont in the Cherry and White in 2013.

| He said he'll take it year by year in his interview so we just need to leave it to him.
What he wants he should get.

What? He isn't going to play on because the fans mess about on an internet forum with a thread like this. A few dozen (if that) fans will have zero influence on George.
If it were me I'd take it as a compliment and do whatever I was going to to do anyway.

| If, and that is a big if, George decides he wants to continue his career at Wigan even in a reduced playing capacity then that is his decision alone. The club will then decide whether he will be an asset to the playing staff ( forgone conclusion imo that he would be) and offer him a contract that suits both parties.
Let George enjoy this season and we as fans enjoy watching him.

27588.gif "Games as big as a grand finals define individuals and clubs. Remember we are only renting these shirts, I had my time in Pat Richards shirt. Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

| As I mentioned, if we rotated him with Gelling and Thornley his body could get the rest it needs to allow him to play the way he is now. Earlier this season he was out with a broken thumb and the 4 weeks rest seems to have invigorated him and he's playing some fantastic rugby at the moment. One more year George

| If there was a chance that George could be staying I really don't think we would have signed Thornley??

Dont think thats anything to do with it really. I think if anything Thornley learning off George for another year would be ideal.
