| I understand Sivori provided the after-match buffet as part of a catering business he operated, but failed to receive payment as he didn't provide a dessert.

| Quote: ROBINSON "I don't remember this incident, but on a related note, I do remember a cup match against Runcorn Highfield in the late 80s (I think) where Runcorn hastily signed a load of amateurs also due to a players strike. The team was led by ex-Wigan player Bill Ashurst, who was Runcorn coach at the time, and came out of retirement at the age of 42 to help out, only to get sent off about 10 minutes in, for starting a fight with a Wigan player.
We won 92-2, which must have been pretty demoralising for them, especially when Brian Case went to stand off for a spell!'"
Was that Bill Ashurst or Geoff Fletcher ?

| Quote: Finfin "Bill was giving us a one-legged cameo of kicks, flips and cut out passes when he decided to go the whole hog and reprise 1970's rugby by calmly walking 15 metres at a play the ball and headbutting Andy. Bill later admitted he had got the wrong man and the repercussions of this incident caused him to lose the coach's job at Runcorn.'"
Goodway tackled him and he just stood up and nutted him.

| I seem to recall Geoff Fletcher having to turn out for Runcorn against us, as there was a players strike on.
Fletcher was a proper rugby player.
He used to take out his teeth and pull his wig off before playing, in his later years.

Doesn't surprise me with Bill Ashurst, he could certainly dish it out
His large family used to turn up for all his matches at CP.
IIRC they all lived in Ince.

Was a big fan of Sash when I was a lad. Remember him running his blood to water at Wembley in 1970.

| There's a picture here of Geoff Fletcher in 1970 at Central park when he played for Wigan.
There's not many pics of him about.
Quite a catalogue of injuries ?
