Can't stand the bloke (Marmite like you say), but that was bordering on genius - very, very smart.

That was the funiest thing , for one brief millionth of a second I thought that Lee's head injury had got to him and was trying to pack down. Then I realised it was classic Lee Briers

| Never known a rugby player fake injury like he does. Disgrace to the game. Go and get a round ball!

I didn't particularly like that either, although had it happened at the other end of the pitch to a certain Wigan player I think the exact same would have happened.
Briers at his best really. Noticed after the penalty for a ball steal briers ran about 40 metres to have a go at the silverwood and I think it was Sam who tried to get in his way tickled me a bit.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

They want the team to try; if they fail they fail, but they expect honesty. They know when players don't put it in."

Get over yourself. The guy's a bloody genius and if he'd been playing for you, you'd be saying how wonderful he was.
You should be more worried about loony Luaki who cost you the game and ought to be looking at a long ban. How glad am I that we got rid of him.

| I do genuinely think he was injured, in those first few moments after the incident he really hadn't a clue where he was. Legs gone the lot. I couldn't believe he stayed on the pitch, he was extremely quiet after that and certainly didn't make me cringe when he got the ball like he had done previously, made a few good passes but definitely none of the rip tearing runs he had made earlier. The blood pouring from his head was appalling that the ref didn't make him leave. I couldn't believe that our forwards didn't exploit that and run at him. I just wondered whether the incident at the round ball event last week has impacted on our sport. Did players avoid him knowing he was hurt?

| Didn't we have a stop in play 1st half whilst a Wigan player got a head bandage ?

Amazing, really. I've been watching the game for forty years and I've never seen a ref miss a player offside at the ptb before.

| "Retire at play-the-ball (g) players of the side not in possession other than the player taking part in the play-the-ball and the acting half back are out of play if they fail to retire ten (10) metres from the point at which the ball is played or to their own goal lines. Players of the side in possession other than the player taking part in the play-the-ball and the acting halfback must retire behind their players involved in the play-the-ball or to their own goal line."
"Indicating ten metres The Referee should usually position himself ten metres behind and to one side of the point at which the ball is played as a guide to the team not in possession. If tackling is excessively keen or play is unnecessarily rough, the referee may forsake the ten metres position in order to be nearer the players involved in the tackle."
My interpretation, given the two rules quoted above, is that the defending players are on-side at the PTB if they are 10 metres back regardless of where the ref is. The PTB before the Briers inerception was about a metre before a white line and the ref had the defenders, except Briers, back to the next white line, so Briers was about 10 metres back and the other 11, so I doubt the VR would have dis-allowed it anyway.

| Briers does what he does, we tried the same play around three times and Lee just took advantage of our predictable play..

| Your interpretation is correct which is why it annoys me when ppl scream and shout that players are in front of the ref so offside.

| Listening to the ref/linesmen on a scanner, I honestly lost count how many times the touchies called Wire offside, either at the scrum, (5m) or at the play the ball, it was Briers offside left, 'AND INVOLVED' only to be waved away with a quiet, 'ply on' from Silverwood.
Good on Briers for getting away with what he can, but it is about time that we had a little more consistency all round really.
Great game nonetheless and without Briers, Wire would have been very ordinary, so you can't knock him really.
I agree though that we should have run at him when he was groggy and also at Chris Bridgewhen he was seeing stars, but I am sure that Waney will look at decisions liek this during the week.
