The u18s will not provide any sort of test for them. They are only three or so months older than Ben Currie at Warrington and he has been playing u20s for over a year now and is on the verge of first team duty.
I can't see Mellor having any long term future with Wigan and it would be best all round to release him now to Widnes or wherever and allow Williams and Hampshire to play u20s. By the end of the season they'll probably offer more than Mellor currently does to the u20s.
Next season is probably a year too soon for whichever one of these two bolts through and that is where I think Wigan's "problem" is for next season. I don't think Mellor or Powell are realistic options at half-back for a team that wants to be winning trophies and therefore Tomkins may well return to that position.

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row

That could happen with Russell slotting in at fullback, in fact I think that we may see that tried in a couple of games this year. I can see Powell being cover for 7 and 9.

Ellery and Faz had there time in Sean's, Hampo and Radders in Sam's. You have to make a mark in these shirts that's still there the day you hand it over to someone else. So be aware for 80 minutes you are not only playing but also writing history and creating a legacy. How many people get to actually write history, not many. A big stage demands big players, be inspired. You play for Wigan, now go do it. Good luck." - Martin Offiah, 2010.:27588.gif |

| I still remember the bloke stood behind me at Leeds away last season, "Go Home Finch...your bluddy useless"
about a minute later he throws a 30 yard cut out pass to send us away which we then level the game off!
We definately rushed Brett back last year for the Warrington game. I hope IFL offers him a 2 year option with a year in wigans favour. We need the experienced lads around the side to bring the likes of mellor and powell through. Who better than an NRL winning half and a challenge cup winning half who has also played state of origin?

| Class act... Seems to be able to make opposition defences look slow with the speed of his thought. Glad he got over his injury, for him mainly, but also for us.
No brainer!! Get him signed!!

| The club may have had talks with Dureau and Matty Smith? Dureau yes, Matty Smith though? Good grief!
Re-signing Finch is a no brainer. He's a class act and always has been.
Just the type of player we need to help whoever replaces TL.
There should be enough on the salary cap with TL departing as well as Carmont, maybe Roberts and it's worrying that there's still no sign of Stu Fielden. The more time goes on without him playing the less likely I think are his chances of a new contract in 2013.
Even with paying increment increases there should be money available for Finch on an improved deal and maybe one signing.

| As much as I'd love Dureau at Wigan, I just can't see it happening. Not really Lenegan's style and Dureau seems to be enjoying France. If we do get him and he's alongside finch for next year......wow

| We need to prioritise finch over dureau. He's really leading us around the park and make the opposition wonder what he's gonna do. Gotta keep him and lockers no matter what!!

| Wigan should have some cash splashing around for re-signings and new signings if guys like Roberts, Carmont and Fielden follow Leuluai out of the door.
Get Finch tied up
Get Dureau signed
Get Larne Patrick signed
Get Jack Reed signed
Easy enough all that so over to you Ian Lenagan......ha ha.

Aye. Maybe we'll see it for the Exiles.
I can't see a reason not to sign up Finch. Age isn't a problem, here - even when practically hobbling round the pitch, a nearly-retired Deacon brought much-needed direction to the side. Finch is still relatively young, we need that kind of experience in the pivots, and we'll need continuity there when Tommy goes.

| Why would Jack Reed leave a potentially NRL winning side for SL?
I don't think any of the other signings would happen being realistic. But Finchy should be signed up now.

He most probably wouldn't but we can dream....at least until he signs a 5 year deal with Brisbane.
Dureau is realistic-ish and Patrick unlikely but it's all tounge in cheek.
Like you say the main thing is to get Finch sorted out and work from there (infact Lockers is the main one but you catch my drift).
