But it's always a bad sign when you have to dip into the past to find consolation ... as one of your lot said to us a few years ago.

They are being consistent though

Leeds were in this boat last season, and we all know what happened next?'"
The difference is that Leeds had plenty of injuries, along with adjusting to life under a new coach. I didn't think they would win the GF, but it was clear their early season form was not a true reflection on those players.
Last season saints had a poor start but they had the eternal effort of Roby and Graham keeping them going, that partnership has now been cut in half. What kept them fresh last season was the introduction of regular spots for the likes of Lomax and Gaskell. That honeymoon period has now run its course. I can't see where they will get their inspiration from in all honesty.
From what I am hearing from saints fans, it sounds like their worst home performance for a long, long time. It shocks me that there was no late comeback from the red vee, not guts, no determination. None of the things you usually expect from saints.
So far this season they have beaten London in the first game, London are currently one of the worst teams and everyone has beaten them. They then played Salford and were outplayed for large parts of the match, perhaps the Langtree Park first game factor got them through? Since then they scraped a draw against Hull KR and then lost the last 3. Saints have gone 4 games without a win. Someone please tell me the last time that happened!

| One of my favourites so far
"I love Saints. I hate Rugby League at the moment. Nothing to do with us losing. It's the fact that I am completely wasting my time and money watching a mind-numbingly boring spectacle week in, week out."
Ha Ha Ha
I suggest we all go and find our favourite quotes and bring them back to this thread!

| The one thing I can't get my head round with the Saints supporters is a few of them (not all) turning on the pairing of Gaskell and Lomax at halfback. These lads are 2 youngsters that are bound to have there ups and downs and they need patience. They were excellent last season but that was with Roby and Graham alongside them and at the moment they have neither.
The majority of the Saints fans are laying the blame at the right door and thats with Simmons though. I can't believe they have somebody like Wheeler on the bench and a couple of clowns like Meli and Gardner starting and also Wellens still hanging on at fullback when he simply isn't good enough anymore. He should be in the centre or backrow for me if picked at all.
They certainly have some problems and they're being highlighted more so then ever with no Graham or currently Roby to paper over the cracks. If guys like Wheeler, Gaskell or Lomax become a bit peeved with it all i'm sure we could find them a spot......they'd go well playing in a well organised, disciplined and attacking team coached by an ape!

Bradford Away.
Leeds Home.
Wire Away.
Wigan Home.
Ouch!'"
They should win the first one but after that the Leeds and Wire games look a very tall order which could leave them with 7 points from 9 going in to our game (and they'd be set up for a derby day win no doubt as these things happen).
That would be unbelievable from a Saints side thats always been around the top 3 positions in superleague.

I can allow that. 1 win in 8 for Saints suits me fine

Perhaps that was the same guy who phoned that very churlish report into Sky last night after the game. All he was interested in talking about was how poor the overall game was and how Hull weren't really that good, rarely touching on what must have been a truly shocking Saints performance. He tried to give the impression that RL was the real loser and that all who attended would have gone home feeling short-changed. I bet the Hull fans who made the trip over wouldn't have been, whatever the opinion of yet another small-minded local journalist.
