Tomkins just doesn't do it enought for me and because of Castleford's decline in the last 2 - 3 months, Chase will miss out.'"
Roby's stats are inflated because of the way he plays the game. They show how hard he works and how good his stamina is but they don't show how effective or influential he is. I'm not saying he isn't both of those things but it's slightly obvious that a hooker who plays 80 minutes and has a playing style where he regularly steps forward from dummy half before passing would end up making a huge amount of metres. His average metres per carry show that most of those metres come from stepping out before passing rather than direct runs at the line, therefore they don't really make much difference to the team.
To compare Roby stats with Sam Tomkins just doesn't make sense, given that the fullback and hooker are two vastly different positions. In fact comparing Roby's stats to Monaghan's doesn't tell you much either as they have differing styles of play.
