| Which ever way you look at it, Cummings got that call wrong.
It should have either been a try, play the ball on the 10 or penalty for double movement. How in the world he came up with that call is beyond me - he was over the line?!!
I feel sorry for the full time refs if he's in charge

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| How can he disallow that Charnley try but not give a pen to saints? He got the ball down so to not give it he must have been looking at double movement.
The reffing across the games has been really poor. Hull were really hard done to at times, the ref was just guessing decisions!

| I think the ruling was that the tackle was complete (it clearly was - ball grounded and momentum stopped), then the 'shermozzle' that followed resulted in Charnley ending up over the Saints line.
Couldn't be a try (tackle complete), double movement would have been incredibly harsh as it didn't appear that Charnley made an attempt to propel himself over the line, and a penalty against Saints for interference would also have been harsh as there was no attempt to slow down play, they'd just thrown a lot of bodies in there to try to prevent the score.
Sensible way to restart play, IMO.
I saw a similar decision (I think it was a Hull Saints play off 5 years or so ago) where the tackle was complete then, as the Hull tackler was getting to his feet, he leaned on the ball carrier Tony Stewart (I think) who's head touched the whitewash as a result. Ref told him to get to his feet and play the ball.

| Quote: Famous "Which one of those penalties wasnt a penalty? Do you not think a Saints player should have also been sent to the sin bin, particularly Wellens, as a result of these professional fouls?
The Coley high tackle wasnt that bad at all as the Saints player was falling. I am confident there will be no case to answer.
The pass to Richards certainly wasnt any more forward than the one by Shenton to Lomax (I think) for his try in the first half.'"
Don't want to be provocative but; had too much to drink at the game?
Suggest you watch it on sky again when you are sober.
Unlike some of your fellow fans, your other comments are not worth discussing.
Thought it was a very close game similar to the good friday game except we just held out this time.
Next time who knows as there is not much between the teams IMO.

| For me two baffling referee performances were Gansons and Thalers!
Thought Bentham had a decent game, tried to let the game flow. Couple of 50/50 went for both teams. Charnley no try was strange because he wasnt given as held up! Grasping at straws if we are looking at Bentham to blame!

Lets be honest, Cummings is only where he is after he was moved to avoid the uproar of his pally, matey behaviour with a certain lot of players. Once we found out that he had put himself in as video ref, we were on a hiding to nothing.
No wonder Saints had such a good winning streak with him and Ganson pulling the refereeing strings.

47600_1370068151.jpg The Autumn Wind is a pirate
Blustering in from sea,
With a rollocking song, he sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
His face is weather beaten.
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.
He growls as he storms the country,
A villain big and bold.
And the trees all shake and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.
The Autumn Wind is a raider,
Pillaging just for fun.
He'll knock you 'round and upside down,
And laugh when he's conquered and won.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_47600.jpg |

| Bentham did okay in my opinion, he was the reason you had a chance at half time when hammering Saints in the final few minutes. Ganson was a bit too picky on friday, but at least it stopped teams slowing the play the ball down and led to attacking free-flowing entertaining rugby. Wigan looked very tired, I still expect them to be walking out at Old Trafford though.

| all this whining and appealling to the ref is out of order IMO, be it Briers, Wello, Mona or Sam. And if you draw your 'own' square in the air - automatic 10 minutes. Its getting as bad a wendyball and Torres waiving his imaginary cards at the ref.

Have to agree with this. It is one thing I don’t like about football and it is creeping into our game more and more. I can’t understand why refs rarely penalise for dissent nowadays. For me they should to stop this. Not having a go at Saints because we’re as bad as anyone. But as an example, Wellens for me should have been sin binned for dissent for that try of Richards, or James Graham’s foul mouth rant at the 4th official during the blood bin incident. I understand his passion but we can’t have that in our game if you ask me.
Back to the game. We can’t blame the ref for yesterdays defeat. Didn’t watch the Catalans v Hull KR game but the refereeing in all the other games for me was fine.
Charnley’s was a try for me. He was short but Saints somehow contrived to get him over the line. Should have been a try but we didn’t play well enough to say we deserved the win. Credit to Saints for their performance yesterday. Still think that if we play to our potential we should beat Saints but don’t think that we will win the GF even if we get there.

You are joking? Cummins is No1 Saints fan? Is that what you are saying? Surely you know Cummins is an out and out mad Wigan fan. Ask anyone who knew him from when he was a teacher.
Or have I misunderstood your post?

| cummins is in no way a Wigan fan.
The Charnley try was a try, the saints players pulled him over the line and he got the ball down. He gave a decision as if he'd been held up when he hadn't. Had it been determined a double movement it should have been a saints penalty.
That decision probably changed the game for us.

Yes, it wasn't a try. His momentum had been stopped, if you watch closely he makes a 2nd effort by using his legs to drive himself over the line.
It should have been a pen to saints for a double movement.
