| A Myler type player could go very well alongside Finch.
Whoever we have replacing Deacs, they have to have a good kicking game. They could do absolutely nothing else, but as long as they can kick!

I thought Mellor kicked very well last night. Found the ground each and every time. His kicks tend to stay quite low to the ground as opposed to going high, so in that respect they don't stay in the air as long meaning the opposition don't get as long to get themselves in position to field his kicks.

Wouldnt go that far but he does look pretty good. He wouldnt be knocking McIllorum out of my team yet though. Id bring him in as interchange though if we need to have tommy at 7 for injuries or whatever.

| I've said it before and I'll say it again. I think Liam Carberry is a better prospect than Logan Tomkins.

i disagree about low kicks.
high long kicks are best imo with the maximum "hang time" allowing us to get in their faces, or even get the ball back. Pats brilliant at this, spiralling it as well.
He would make a great "punter" or Kick off guy in the NFL, where "hang time" is the priority.

would be a good option for him when he hangs his boots up, and a massive pay day.....those guys play on into their 40s.

This always gets said when there is a younger brother coming through. I remember people saying it about Wayne Rooney's brother when he first broke through at Everton and I'm sure it was said about Tom/George Burgess when Sam started playing at Bradford.

Quite frankly I can't imagine him not being a good player when you consider how good his brothers are. As for Mellor - the Myler comparison is quite apt in reference to his support play. He's definitely ready for the step up.
And no - Sam is streets ahead of Joel and Logan, but tbf he's the best player in the country.'"
Not to be too pedantic, but Logan has only just turned 19, he's got plenty of time to improve and prove himself at Wigan.
Mellor has always looked good when I've seen him play and I can't understand how he's not been given a chance yet.

According to the official website, Tomkins was born on 1st August, 1991 - which makes him 20. Whenever I've seen him for Widnes he's looked very useful - he guides the team around the park pretty well. Obviously he needs to improve, but the ability is there.
As for Mellor, from what I've heard if he hadn't had the injury to his knee-cap he'd be playing for the first team now. He's very highly thought of.

| The expectation of some Wigan "fans" is quite ridiculous at times just because his last name is Tomkins people expect him to be a world beater, Its pathetic for those who suggest that Carberry is a better prospect explain why he hasn't been sent out on Dual Reg as the players who go out to other clubs are generally the players most likely to get the next shot in the first team, So it suggests to me that Carberry isn't as highly regarded at this moment as Logan. I'm sure Carberry will likely go on Dual Reg next season unless of course he ends up like Sam Gee who I thought looked a terrific prospect but as much as we have our opinions ultimately its the coaching set up that makes the decisions not the "fans" as much as some like to wish they did.

I absolutely do think he is better than Carberry because the Coaches obviously rate Logan higher otherwise it would be Carberry on Dual
Reg & Logan would be in the 20's every week I think it's safe to say that the coaches know more than we do.
