| Thank God he didn't come to Wigan, 1st class . "I don't like all this wrestling and stuff", just so he didn't have to mention Sam in his present day stars

| I enjoyed it also, it's just not on long enough. He was a class player and like johnh says we shouldn't forget how good he was. I remember seeing an interview on TV years ago when he talked about the possibility of moving to Wigan. Would have loved it if it had come off.

| Quote: jonh "Thought he spoke well about his playing career and let's not forget just how good he was. If he had come to Wigan, which he very nearly did he would have gone down as a legend.
When hecopens his mouth to discuss coaching though, that's when the wheels fall off.'"
I agree. He was a pretty decent player was Schoey.
He always liked the speccies and I remember being outside the main gates at Headingley once when we played there. They had to send out security to drag him in, because he was signing loads of autographs and chatting to the fans.He would have missed the kick off time if left to him.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

| The most bitter man in RL.
He went red when brian started talking about coaching.
He is a true idiot.
Briers and Brough are both excelent players but they are not exactly the two names that spring to mind when you think of great players to watch.
A fantastic player in his time but in this modern day he has nothing to offer the game whether it be his coaching or his opinions.
It is quite clear from watching Wigan and Warrington in super league and St George and Melbourne in the NRL that organised teams with structures under a top class coach = success.

| He was a poacher during his playing career and could do things off the cuff which was good to watch.
However as a coach he won't succeed as his phillosphy seems to you score one we will score 2 and that won't work
schoey should stick to media work at least he's controversial

| Schofield has his opinions and isn't afraid to say them, what's wrong with that? I agree with about 1% of what he says but as others have pointed out I think some respect is due for guys like Schofield, I don't like it when Wire fans are always making fun of Offiah's eccentric media personality. Hanley and Edwards have also got a lot of knockers in the RL community.
But there is nobody in Super League today who is in the calibre of any of those four players, not even close, so they should get respect by the RL community.
One thing about Schofield is he is a 'rugby league' type person through and through, I've seen him in the Skyrack in Leeds when the rugby's on, and he's not too proud to mix with the masses and talk RL with any old pleb, I think he likes anybody that will listen to his voice. But you have to remember on the field he could back up his talk with quality.

You're in denial, if you think Tomkins isn't even close to those four players. Injuries permitting, that lad is going to be a legend.

Spot on Ms Cinnamon, even the Aussies rated Schoey's ability on a rugby league field. Not an accolade that any on here will have earned!

| truewiganer, don't hold back, say what you really feel!
I feel sorry for him TBH, even though he makes himself difficult to like with some of his statements.
It must be awful for him to compare himself with Shaun Edwards. He was more naturally gifted than Shaun, but Shaun's work ethic (and sheer luck - Edwards being born a Wiganer and came into the side at just the time that the great club was starting to rise again) meant that Edwards went on to win every club honour in the game, the most successful player in history. The fact that Edwards has since gone on to become a major figure in the other code must be hard to take too.
Edwards is respected throughout the "rugby" world and one of the few people with a RL background who most sports fans in the UK would recognise.
Schofield isn't even popular in RL.
It's like a greek tragedy where the gods smile on one character and torment another...

| Class player on the pitch, a bit of a wally off it.
Came across as down to earth, but arrogant at the same time. Strange fella.
(I wish I had a pound for every time he said resassure - I can reassure you Brain that.... blah blah.)

| I remember seeing him and Lee Crooks rolling in the gutters of Kings Cross Sydney on the Australian tour. Not the best advert for GB "stars".
The thing that amused me last night was his opinions of just how close we were to the Aussies when Mal Reilly was in charge and how Schofield hated defensive rugby.
However when Reilly was on the show a few weeks back he said that we would never beat the Aussies until we learned how to defend.
