| Quote: LewCharnock "I am confident but still have a slight uneasy feeling about it. I have no doubt that if we play to our potential we will win, but, as others have said, it seems they are due a win against us and with Pryce firing for them they do have a good chance.
However, it might just be me but I don't think their defence is good enough, they've conceded over a 100 more points than us in the league and conceded 26 at a weakened Castleford side on Sunday. We all know, when we turn up with the right attitude to defend we are a very difficult side to break down, so hopefully we turn up and see a similar performance to the away tie at Widnes or Wire a few weeks ago. We never really struggle to score points and managed to make the Wire defence look very ordinary and nearly score a half century.
I do think we'll win as our forwards are really playing well and with Perry and Magennis out, I think we should have enough to beat them in the forwards.'"
The week before though we only conceded 6. For me Saturday can go either way If we can get our more experienced side on the pitch then we have as good a chance as you. MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN

| The biggest thing my Saints-supporting friends can come up with is that "they are due a win" against us. When I ask to expand on the point and explain how they think they'll actually do it they're stumped. Silverwood being the ref is a big plus for us I think. Controlling the ruck is vital against Saints as all their momentum stems from Roby. That was key to our victory at their(Widnes's) place this season and will be key again, providing Roby doesn't get banned which I sincerely doubt he will. Silverwood tends not to be too fussy concerning the play the ball area and lets both teams get on with it

| Feel a bit sick tbh. Wouldn't say confident, but not scared either. Really could go either way, but we should start favourites and rightly so. Come on Sat, this week is dragging big time.

| I am confident but we are beatable. Sometimes our defence is weak and we let in too many points. It's as if the defence goes to sleep or switches off.
I do think though that Maguire will 'have the whip out', as I reckon he wants to go to Wembley. All Ozzies do !

| I honestly thought wire would beat us ill be honest but likes been said on here we have developed that big game mentality that we've been lacking the past few years.
Im never confident going into a Derby let alone a semi final Derby but I can see the passion in the whole squad and that with the effort and skill as shown in the quarters I reckon we'll edge it.

4916_1342356991.gif Rugby league must be a great game to survive the people who run it.

| Not in the least, never thought I would say this but Saints have been good this season and don't deserve to have lost their title as the entertainers to Wire, although that is only Wiggy's opinion. No doubt in my mind that both teams will be going into this game with players carrying more injuries and knocks than they have all season and think the timing of the games for the challenge cup is barking mad - comp starts early on in the season, super league clubs join in at the start of May with the 5th round a couple of weeks later then they forget about it for two months before staging a quarter final and a semi final inside two weeks - which brainchild at the RFL who had just undergone a frontal lobotomy thought that schedule up! The challenge cup was always so special to many of us - regardless of whether we were taking part or not - but that all seemed to change when they moved it from May to August.

40218_1286737075.jpg Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill):d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_40218.jpg |

| We have been inconsistent this season mainly due to the injuries we have had. But we were marvellous against Hull KR and were the same against Cas, bar a blip in the first half. Since we had no interchanges in the second half it was little wonder we let in a couple of soft tries at the end as in those hot and humid conditions with no interchanges the team was always going to be knackered. If our walking wounded heal before the weekend - a big if, this season! - then I think this match could go either way because although Roby is still a vital cog in the wheel, he is no longer our only cog in the wheel. We should also have Clough back, since he made it through a full 80 minutes of u20s action, so he will replace Magennis. All going well, we will be just one prop down with a couple of sparrows on the wings. That constitutes the strongest team we have had available all season.
And we are no longer the slowest team in Superleague.

| We are beatable, but I thought it'd be Wire if it was anyone. And we battered them. So think we'll win by a few tries - unless the players turn up thinking they've already won, like they did against Bradford.

[quote="headhunter":lnxdgxk2]Union people are idiots. They almost universally accept that league is a better, faster game played by better athletes, yet for some reason they continue to disregard and belittle it. That game is tedious as hell from start to finish. If he'd ever played or even bothered to give more than a fleeting chance to league he would realise that the game is far more 'technical' than Union ever could be. Booting the ball into touch, scrummaging and forming rucks and mauls aren't areas that involve any skill, technique or mental capacity whatsoever. These are clumsy, outdated facets of the game that are also extremely uninteresting to watch and thus have to be defended in some way by people who are too prejudiced to see the truth.[/quote:lnxdgxk2]: |

This for me.....which although is not invincible, or unbeatable with no guarentees, is a good place to be in.
We play to our potential and play like we did against wire, Saints wont be able to stop us....Wire couldnt and Wigan and Wire are streets ahead of saints.
The worry is if we don't play as we can, even slightly off our top level and saints have a stormer, it will be a close game and saints could edge it....but if thats the case then we'll only have ourselves to blame
We need a big start again I feel - Dominate the first 30 mins as we did at widnes and I think the games ours. Play like we can, to our potential, we'll be going to wembley.

| I think Wigan having an extra two nights to turn around will be advantageous as both teams seem to have picked up a few knocks. No surprises that Leeds got the biggest turnaround playing Friday then Sunday
I also think that Wigan have the better playmakers with their four halfbacks on the field, Tomkins, Finch, Deacon and Leuluai, they create space on the left with ease at times.
That being said, it's a one off game and anything can happen, and that's what makes them so exciting.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Throw Lockers into that as well. The way the all link up is superb.
