| Quote: Steinlager "Given this some thought over the weekend. I personally don't think we should give it to Wane because its the right thing to do, nor do I think we should throw it at any former player - lacking in experience.
We need someone with a good tactical ability for 2 years, to help enhance Wane's experience in this area. Nathan Brown would certainly fit the bill, especially given his tactical approach at Hudds. Not only that but a 2 year stay in this country would suit him down to the ground, given his ambition to return home.
At the moment we could make a serious mistake in coach recruitment because we are focussed on
No thank you.

Wane should be the only name in the hat.
He's moved up through the system winning trophies along the way.
He's now, like Madge was at the Storm BTW, the number 2 at a championship winning outfit and playing a massive role there.
People don't feel compelled to give Wane the job out of sentimental reasons they want him there because he's EARNED a crack at the big job.
It's so clear cut who should get the job it's untrue.
The big question is the assistants job.

If Wane doesn't want the job he'd be at the top of my list.
He's a quality coach.

How about Matty Johns, has a good reputation in Australia for being very knowledgeable about the sport especially tactically.
Maybe the club could see whether a career in coaching would interest him, if so it would give him an opportunity to begin away from the NRL spotlight.
Plus he's a former player for the club and that may help the club to lure him over here.

That could be a very good option although i think I'd like someone with a little bit more experience.

| Personally I think Wane's guaranteed the head coaches role. The big one for me is who'll come in as second in command. The right or wrong pick could have a huge influence on how Wane and the team perform next year. I'd like to see someone come in more of an advisory role as opposed to a coach. Perhaps we could have Jon Lang seeing as he'll be finished with the Bunnies at the end of this year. A coaching line up or Wane, Deacon and Lang ticks the right boxes for me.

Johns had a bit of coaching experience in Australia just don't think he's made the switch to coaching full time ... yet
Just think he'd be good as he could help Wane with tactics & coaching the backs allowing Wane to continue his focus on defence & the forwards.

| i have a strange feeling about lammy coming over, i'm not just plucking names from the sky for the sake of doing so, maybe have lam for one or two seasons with wane with the view to promote wane to head coach on a long term contract soon after.
otherwise, as IL has said himself, it appears wane is his favourite and i suppose thats what counts. its who IL wants in doesn't it. wane hasn't exactly done himself any harm. 100% SL record IIRC?
i know its only over 2 or 3 games but he has learnt from last years coach of the year and before that has been understudy to nobby and also done great things with the youth team.
i would be more than happy to give wane a go if we did well this year but as mentioned on another post, i just hope MM doesn't try to poach our players. whoever comes in for 2012 we need our strongest team to help them settle and make the job easier to get to grips with. wane certainly has the attention and respect of the team anyway, as do all of the staff at wigan which can only be good for wane if he lands it.

I tend to go along with this idea. Maybe even with a young, up and coming coach, from Aus or NZ working under/with Wane.

No thanks, another aussie who bailed out early on his wigan contract

| If Wane does not get it. Then give it to the 18th Man i say. Each week one of us should get to pick and coach the team.
Always promote from within.
If my plan is accepted then i am taking charge 6th October 2012

| would personally like to see a combination of Wane and Edwards.
I get the feeling Wane is an outstanding second but not sure he has what it takes to be a lead coach, without a strong "partner".
Ricky Stewart would be my first choice if we cannot get that combination, Cartwright at the Titans looks like he will be available and I would also hope he would be a potential target. Very similar principles to Madge.
