| I love all this Sam to 6 stuff. When he was moved to full back last year I said that he should stay as a 6 and was called an idiot despite the valid argument that, though good at fullback he should be a 6.
How times change ey?

| At the moment the link play is way off the back line looks like its playing to one of Nobles game plans. The team needs to earn the right to attack; the forwards need to be holding their own in the middle to allow the backs the extra time to run from deeper. My last few posts seem to be about the forwards not holding their own but simple as it seems thats how I see it.
If the forwards are performing tomkins at fullback if not then we need our quickest play maker at the heart of things No6

| Fullback, not only when he is fit, but when he is on form. First half of last season he was argueably one of the best performers in the league.
This season he has once again been a bit wobbly, as we seen against Huddersfield.
He must be on decent form to get a spot for me.

The problem is to get in decent form he needs to play consistently in the same position IMO.
The results so far suggest play him at fullback or get rid of him. As others has said, if Maguire won't move sam to 6 then I don't see Amos getting a look in at 1 so then he's looking at playing in the 20s. Not an ideal situation for the club or him IMO. I'd like to see him get a run of games at fullback, giving him the chance to get some form going.

Nearly agreed with all that except Deacon at 7 with Finch warming his booty on the bench! He needs to be used as an interchange until he finds some form.

| Not read the thread, but Amos to FB and Sam to 6 is my belief, not opinion.

Very true, but the fixtures we've had to start the season haven't been ideal for gaining form as they have been close and tough, especially for a player that hasn't had any form for nearly a whole year now.

Yeah that's true, but all games are tough in Super League, there are no "easy" games anymore imo, just look at Catalans last week! I'd argue the start of the season is the best time for a player to get game time and gain form, as Amos did last year. But as has been said, Maguire would have started the season with Sam as his firm choice for fullback, so that would have meant Amos playing on the wing (as he did before being dropped).

I'm not at all stating that there's any easy games. But, the way the fixtures have been, with the likes of Saints, Warrington, Leeds and Huddersfield all being in there at the start, they have been highly anticipated and highly pressurising.
I agree with you that the start of the season is the best time to gain form, but it has been very difficult this year imo.
Only time will tell whether Amos will get his game time or form.

i ask because if/when he comes back into the first team it would be sensible to pick him in the postion he has been playing the previous week.'"
Pretty sure he hasn't played in the reserves at all, certainly hasn't in the 4 matches I've seen.

| When is his contract up? Pretty sure it's at the end of this season. Think he signed on a three year deal and I don't recall hearing that he's signed an extension to it

Agree, but also we need more scoots from dummy half, which Piggy and Terry Newton (God bless him) were great at. Scooting runs catch the opposition on the back foot and are a good way to get a penalty and relieve a bit of pressure. Micky Mac just does not do enough of them and whoever is at 9 is too content to "dolly" it up to a front rower and we end up playing 5 drives and a kick rugby.
Roberts probably needs some TLC to get his confidence back because he is well out of form at the moment (but then again he is not the only one). Roberts is a full back but needs his confidence building up and the coaching staff need to do that asap IMO

Bilko's splendid site has this page on: wigan.rlfans.com/fusion_pages/in ... age_id=122
This shows that its the end of next season. Believe its something to do with him coming a year early and already having signed a 3 year contract for 2012, 2011 and 2010 and so ending up with 4 years.
