| The sad thing is I (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) used to like and respect Kear, he came across as being pretty honest. But the more I hear of him now, especially his comments about Wigan, the more I think he's just bitter and behind the times. A coach of a poor team, at a club that is on the decline, who wishes he had much more influence and authority than he does. It'd be a shame if his comments weren't so laughable, he ends up looking quite frankly ridiculous and if I was in anyway affiliated with Wakefield I'd be embarassed by his outbursts.

| Utterly off-topic, but I have to say at this point that Lazy J has the finest signature I've seen since I joined up with rlfans.
Congratulations!

| Its even worse than this post suggests.
I was listening on Friday, and can remember him saying something along the lines of ....
"Lima is a disgrace ...... ANYTHING LESS THAN 12 WEEKS IS A DISGRACE ..... Wigan were doing this ALL last season ...... they are a disgrace and they should be banned .... all of them"
The guy was a complete tool.
At least he was made to look a fool when he was commentating on the no of pens. He referred to the Childs performance on MM weekend, and was asked to confirm if he was the losing coach or not. That certainly made him look like the bitter and twisted loser that he is.

Yet it still would have been longer than Big Fat Gary's season.

| As long as people like John Kear are employed at a relatively high level in the British game, we can never progress as a sport.
The guy reeks of amateurishenss. He may have had success in the past, but everything he says now comes over brattish, twisted, bitter nonsense. He fanatically supports anyone who plays Wigan, though I suspect he may now see his future in the Leeds set-up, given that he is clearly (and deliberately) dancing to Hetherington's tune. Whichever the truth, his vision is entirely clouded by personal issues. He is no longer fit to operate at any level in the professional game.

| Andy Wilson..
Unfortunately Lima had already blotted his copybook – which was messy enough anyway, only a couple of months into his British career – with the tackle on the young Leeds forward Chris Clarkson that dominated post-match discussion. It doesn't seem to have made it on to You Tube yet, but can be viewed again through the BBC's Super League Show - about 15 minutes in, with Robbie Hunter-Paul's comments five minutes later. "This sort of tackle can cause a lot of problems – you can blow someone's knee out like that, and even end their career," said Robbie, summing up the general outrage at Lima's apparent lack of regard for a fellow professional, and setting the scene for the New Zealander's latest trip to the Rugby Football League disciplinary this week.
It does seem a funny old world when Wayne Rooney can be pilloried for swearing at a television camera, even after issuing an apology through Manchester United, whereas Wigan are apparently happy with Maguire's mealy-mouthed response when asked about Lima's behaviour. "I don't think there was too much in it to be honest," he said. "At the end of the day you get three men in a tackle many times, and unfortunately he [Clarkson] just happened to bend the wrong way."
It will be interesting to see if the disciplinary authorities take the same view.

| Quote: Cruncher "The trouble is that little sh8ts like Kear, who would be nothing at all in normal life - let's face it, he's nothing at all in RL - have actually found that they have influence in this game if they make enough noise (especially if it's in that whiney Yaaarkshire accent - Red Hall always listen more to people who talk like them).
[sizeThe guy has never forgiven us for not giving him a job at Wigan[/size. All I can say about it is thankyou Maurice, that was one bullet we definitely dodged.'"
Maybe if he'd have filled his expenses form in correctly he may still have been here

| I didn't hear the whistle to know whether or not it was a late tackle. I don't think Lima did this on purpose as he would have had to physically put another Wigan player (whoever it was) Underneath the Leeds player trapping his legs. I can only see a warning coming from this. Think Kears comments were not called for. I like Kear and i am a Wakefield fan but feel he does pour hot water on when not wanted at times. Last season seems to spring to mind and look what that got us.

Perhaps Maguire would be more sympathetic to Leeds's position if the entire Leeds establisment hadn't cried wolf over Danny McGuire's self-inflicted injury at the end of last season.
Plus ... Andy Wilson. We know exactly where he's coming from, and it's no surprise whatever to see that he also is doing his bit to influence the game's judiciary.

| Mr Used To Be and Mr Never Bloody Came Close.
If I ever needed my position on the matter vindicating they have just done it.
Kear is a SL coach - hope he gets don't for bringing the game into disrepute.

| maybe we should just stop tackling players round the legs?
ffs they teach u7s to go for the legs.....so we cant tackle high, grab arms, go round legs, grab bolox, drag into touch by the shirt, .........not a lot of body left to tackle is there?
and Kear should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute

But then Hetherington could complain about us tackling around the waist, saying that we're obviously going for the bollox. Not that this would be a probelm for him personally, for obvious reasons.

| Jeff Lima was binned for "tackling the standing leg below the knee" by Silverwood with advice from his TJ's.
If they understand that "Standing" means stationary which it does they are talking utter nonsense. At no time in the incident was Clarkson standing or stationary.
He was running, pumping his legs and driving the Wigan tacklers back. At that point Lima tackled him and the point of impact was the thigh.
Why there is all this about tackling a standing leg I don't know.
It will be interesting to see if Jeff is charged and the nature of the charge. If it is the same as the offence for sin binning then they are setting a dangerous precedent.
Jeff Lima tackled a man running with the ball.
Do they intend abolishing that?
