| ahh another scapegoat.
We played Marsh and Goulding on one side - no wonder that side was targetted.Against St George they knew Gleeson wasn't fit so targetted that side (and when you have players like they did why not).
Why is it there always seems to be one player who becomes the team blame attractor, before it was Karl Pryce (not here so must be someone else to blame) or before that Mathers etc etc no matter how well or even average they do they are still doing no right.
Goudling isn't perfect and makes mistakes all players do (ok except maybe Sam T who can seem to do no wrong sometimes). Tomkins (J) getting sent off certainly didn't help the cause.

| can't knock the guy for effort and he is more than likely a cheap option for us but i cannot see him ever being anything more than an average player. If and when we ever get everyone back fit he will not be in the 17 for me. I can see him moving on to one of the lesser teams like salford or hull in the not to distant future and his squad place taken by one of the younger lads coming through, for example charnley who offers just as much to the team already and who i think will also improve as a player if he is given a run in the side.

he does his job better than most people on the park.
marsh was the problem against hull, he was way way to hesitant and actually ran away from a attacker at one point. this coupled with joel just inside is why goulding gets left on his own against 3 players.'"
Got to agree ref Marsh. He's not up to it yet and imo opinion will struggle. Nothing wrong with Goulding.

I wasnt blaming him for anything in particular, in my opinion he is a very average winger in a good team.

Against St George he was up against one of the best centre wing combinations in the world. He is still learning.

And 7 years younger than Amos Roberts who he's outperformed in pretty much every single game they've both played in since the middle of last year.

Roberts is quite clearly not 100% match fit yet, otherwise hed walk into the team over Goulding, Roberts would have won man of steel last season if he hadn't got injured, dont even try and compare them.

| Goulding and Marsh were like the Chuckle Brothers yesterday (to you, to me, to you, to me!) Why did we keep hoisting bombs for those two to score when we had George Carmont (who was immense against St George) on the other side of the pitch and Charnley who tried his heart out yesterday?

That was the wrong tactic, but not Goulding's fault. He did very little wrong yesterday, and did a lot right. The Westerman try was Tommy's fault, and the Briscoe try was an exceptional bit of athleticism from a very good winger. Ran the ball out hard, and (as I think it was) DaveO pointed out, won 2 penalties for us by catching them offside.
At the WCC, don't forget, we were solid on that side as soon as Joel replaced the unfit Gleeson.
Sure, he's no superstar, but in these salary cap days, we can't have superstars in every position.

| Physically, he will never be the best, and that will always limit him - he isn't the fastest, nor big for an outside back - so as a winger he won't run them in from our own half on an overlap, and as we should have discovered far quicker yesterday, he isn't going to dominate the skies like a Richards or Folau. Haven't seen his passing game for a while as he has been out on the wing.
However with ball in hand, or in defense when he isn't left against 3 men, in terms of technique he is possibly the best threequarter we have, his scooting is superb, his decision making is very good imo, he generally runs the right lines for his size imo. If we're displacing players like him, it is just another indication of how far we have come, and how much strength in depth we have.

That depends on whether Deacon is fit for Friday after his bump on the head yesterday. If he isn't I'd guess we'd move Sam to 6 and play Amos at FB, providing Amos is fit again obviously
