Time for the club to just come out and make an announcement ffs.

Why does any kind of announcement always take so long with the club?

Maybe the legalities of the situation mean that there's nothing to announce.

Because the legal eagles will be involved.

Without trying to over simplify the matter he can either only be still with the club, suspended or sacked can't he. It’s either one or the other and a little bit of news wouldn’t hurt really.

Although with IL previous regarding the Hock announcement I’m sure we could be waiting 12 months with no news.

Agreed, and I don't understand why people don't at least consider this possiblity.

Surely we all know that when there are legalities involved, there are things you just can't say. We should also remember that with an issue like this - when it involves an individual who, along with his family, may be having a difficult and troubled time of it at a very personal level - nobody actually has a right to know anything.

One thing about the current Wigan administration - it will not be bullied or bribed or begged into giving out information if it doesn't want to. If there are things IL wants to keep quiet, they'll be kept quiet for as long as he deems necessary, even if that's forever, and no amount of people like Eddie Hemmings bellyaching to know what's going on will change that.

Whether IL is right or wrong in this regard is is a matter for debate, but what isn't debatable is that this is the way he works, period. We ought to have learned by now that the world will only know Wigan's secrets when Wigan are ready to reveal them. Constantly asking the question won't make a jot of difference.

I think it would be foolish for anyone to jump to conclusions and perhaps the Wigan club is not just protecting itself, but also the player in question.

I realise IL doesn’t want to say anything until he’s good and ready and that’s the way he works but sadly this one could well be out of his hands.

Like it or lump it for IL we like in an instant/24 hours a day, 365 days a year news channel world. Companies like SKY are going to and have been running stories on this even without official statements from the clubs. Journalists will continue to blog about it and every day that goes by and every 19 man squad Wigan name it’s going to keep getting rehashed and brought up time and time again. Do they just think the media will turn away from it?

The Hock situation was different in that we knew something for definite and that was A-Hock had taken coke and B-He’d got a 2 year ban. On this we’ve got no basis in fact and only rumours to judge, chat and write about and if a smart man like IL can’t see the danger in that then I’d be flabbergasted.

But how is any of that more important than a persons well being?

I'm beginning to get the feeling that maybe hes just having a hard time of it and hes been given leave and somewhere someones wires have been crossed. Would make sense with the trip to Australia (grew up there to be fair) just because they have the NRL doesnt necessarily mean thats why he's there.

I have to be honest for them to not come out and tell us he HASNT been sacked does seem to lead to the conclusion that he has but you simply cannot be certain with these things until they come out fully.

I have to say though if its a worry about Martin's well being then delaying the announcement probably makes it worse for him. All the speculation from here (probably doesnt see this mind) and all the speculation in the papers and on the TV surely makes it worse than if it was just out in the open? Of course it could be worse than we ever imagined.

Or nothing of course. Has anyone actually considered that he really may just still be injured? (unlikely i know lol)

The law is law when it comes to employment matters and no amount of bitching and whinging by the media or fans should affect how the club deals with the matter so it fully complies with employment law. The club is the employer and must do things in the right way, nothing can take it out of Lenegan's hand.

My op wasn't about complying about employment law but the lack of communication from the club. ATEOTD if Gleeson is suspended facing a disciplinary there are no laws which state the club can't put this out in the public domain.



IL has a duty of care not to Gleeson but to the Wigan club and, imo, the longer this goes on without comment the more out of touch with reality the rumours will get and possibly more players at the club will have their names brought in unfairly,

Nip it in the bud now.

If Gleese was only injured and nothing sinister was going on..

He would have been at Salford last week with Paddy, Moss, o'Carroll and Finch sat in the stand.

Maguire would have said he was just rested due to injury problems.
