| I'm glad to see that there a good few fans on here which are located in the Midlands and as has been said I'm sure there will be even more once the season gets under way.
At the moment it is just an idea but definately something I would like to get developed in the future if there was enough interest. Definately a good idea to contact the club and see if they can get something put in the programme or something to make people more aware of it and I did remember the link with Coventry Bears last season so I could have a word with them and other RL clubs in the Midlands.
Also I think it would be a great idea to have a one off game somewhere in the Midlands. IMO it is certainly an area which can be easily developed (moreso than others) into becoming more involved with RL. Unlike Quins and Catalan it is a bit more closer to the Lancashire/Yorkshire clubs and it consists of big cities such as Birmingham, Coventry and Nottingham which already have teams involved.
I would also like to see charity shield style game at the start of the season. GF winners v CC winners and every year this could be held at a different venue throughout England to make people more aware of the game. Fans wouldnt have a problem travelling to watch their team play in a 25,000+ seater stadium. Tickets could be given out through RL teams in the area the game is played and I dont think selling tickets would be a problem due to it being a game between the two best teams of the previous season. This is probably too much for the RFL to think of though.

| Bozeat, near Wellingborough. I was a season ticket holder for 6 years and my employer allowed me a shift working Sat - Wed to allow time of for friday nite rugby. I had permenant digs booked and used to have a great time.
Unfortunately SKY, RFL and ey Whelan seem to change matchdays at a whim, I only managed 4 games last season and this doesn't look to be much better. Sadly digs are no more (Mabbs Cross and Charles Dickens)
Driving not an option I enjoy a meal and a tipple while in Wigan.
Keep me informed of any developments
Ta Ian

| Cov warrior, what was the link with Coventry Bears?
We have Leicester Storm, a link with them could be good as well.

| I live in Bedworth near Nuneaton. I don't make it to nearly as many games as I'd like (only made the final last season!), as travelling up on a friday night is a nightmare and by the time I get away from work (at Warwick Uni campus) the M6 is usually a car park. The cost of travel also puts me off these days. It's £40 petrol in the car or £38 return in the train with 3 changes. I've usually done the journey once a month already to see friends and family in Wigan so I don't have time or the money during the rest of my weekends to do the trip again.

Yeah I find that getting up on the M6 on a Friday evening is a nightmare which is why I would have liked more games on Saturday and Sunday. Add to that currently I work Friday nights and last season I found it hard to get to most games.
We have left Cov before at 4pm and not got to Wigan until half 8, it was the Hudds game in 2006 when all I seen was the Danny Orr try But we find if we leave around 2 then its fine, we get in Wigan around 4 but then find ourselves killing time before the game.
Its good to see a good few Wigan fans from the Midlands on here and I expect there would be more too.
I've also seen a lad in a Wigan shirt walking around Cov Uni at the end of last season and I know it wasnt Odemwingie so thats another Wigan fan at Cov Uni!

How do you travel back from cov? As in what roads/motorways.
Getting up the M1 from me is quite difficult to start with if I have labs. Then the A50 isnt the best of roads, and again the M6 is awful, I usually end up coming off for Warrington and making my way down B roads and what not and it's normally faster.
If I end up having labs till 5 this term though and we have games on friday nights I will have no way of getting to them

I travel that way fairly often, though not usually on a Friday night, admittedly, and I take the M6 toll road, M42, A45.

I'm surprised by how many Wigan tops I've seen whilst I've lived down here. Funilly enough I usually spot them at the Tesco at the Ricoh or the Asda over in Walsgrave.
To be honest, until I move back up north again (in talks with the missus after we get married later in the year) I'm writing off much chance of seeing more than the finals and the occasional saturday game. The M6 is just too random, and even with the Toll you just end up getting stuck at Jct12!

From Cov I take the M6 all the way (I get on at Jct3 where I live or Jct4 if I go from work off the A45). Generally, if I'm going to get stuck on the M6 it's usually around Jct12-17. If it's particularly bad further down I'll take the toll.
I've tried all sorts of different ways to bypass the M6 over the years but found that if there's been an accident on the M6 then the roads around get snarled up with other people trying to get round it as well.
