| If we could spread to a major market such as America which Union will likely never crack. Then it could serve to make those who in times gone by would have watched Union seeing League instead.
If instead of the league system Russell is proposing, we had a traditional play-off system of a top 8 which we use in SL and in NRL.
With our number 1 team and their number 1 team having the top 2 spaces and getting a second chance etc.

| I'd like something similar to happen in South Africa, but it will never happen. South Africa i think could have so much potential for league.

Yup, two of my favourite boozers in the world are in the Four Queens Casino (Chicago Cigar Lounge IIRC) and the brewpub at the Main Street Station casino

| That would be awesome...
I wouldn't rush to make it too big personally (stick to 4 clubs, not 8 imo)
But if we are really want to crack the market there, we would need all the best players there, regardless of club, so maybe some sort of SL vs NRL competition running along side the WCC with the best players from teams outside the top 4.
Oh and make it pay [ireally[/i well for the players. Give them something outside that cap and a reason not to cry off injured.

| If they get the right people in charge & we are stuck with the RFL numpties, RL in America will soon overtake RL in Europe.

| Could be a double edge sword this imo.
The money, marketing, media exposure, sponsership and professionalism the seppo's will bring to the game will be something beyond the RFL's dampest dream. BUT you just can't help get the feeling though the yanks will not leave the game alone in its current form and will want to make the game "more suited" to the american market if for no other reason than because they can.
On the other hand well done to Russel Crowe for trying to expand the game and promote new ideas. I wish the people running the sport in this country where as forward thinking as he is. He's done wonders for the bunnies over the last few years but his interest obviously extends to the game as a whole. The administration in this country is killing the game with its complacency and should take note...

The lack of ambition of the people running the game in this country is appalling. This initiative by Crowe should shame them into action. The only thing you can say in defence of the poor management of the game in this country is that they are hamstrung by the many reactionary forces in the RL community. There are so many parochial, narrow-minded, my-club-first morons that begrudge the players making good money, that don't want the game to expand geographically, that don't want clubs to grow their revenue and that don't care about the international game. We see these idiots on every salary cap debate thread. This mindset is a cancer that threatens to kill the professional game - the future seems to be at best a long slow decline.
We don't just need better administrators, we need to re-educate the fools that believe its pointless to try to take the game forward or that any change is part of some sinister Wigan plot to take over the game... Hopefully Crowe's ideas might be the start of a brighter future, unless of course the pro-CC, flat earth, back-to-the-1970s muppets continue to fight progress.

| dont think the 8 team world club championship would work now but who knows maybe in the future, but i would deffo take the world club challenge to america for the begining of 2012 and see how that goes. hopefully the domestic league can go professinal it has the potential to and with super league and nrl players already stating that they would go hopefully it can kick off in the next couple of years.

| I would take the WCC there next year (2012) and let Mr Crowe to organise it if anybody can try and make it work surley this is the man who is known worldwide and would get loads of publicity with this man who seems to love his South Sydney and also the game to grow in the states i really hope this is given a go, its got the backing of our currant chairman aswell.
