| The problem with many 'club before country' people (and I'm not speaking about specific posters here) is that it is more club rather than country.

| I think International Rugby League needs to be strong if the game is ever going to expand beyond it's traditonal strongholds

| So long as Wigans contingent come home fit I'll be happy. Yes I do want England to win. But I'm realistic and therefore put my in interests first.
Infact, I'd rather Sam sat it out with his groin. Even if it is to the detriment of the national teams chances.
I'd of also liked Lockers, Joel and Fielden to have had longer winters than gone over there with about as much chance of winning the comp as Quins have the SL

Yes, you can tell it's an honour for them to represent their country. Not many people get to do so and as the lads have said on many occasions, pulling on the white of England or the blue, white and red of GB is the stuff dreams are made of.

| I think the RFL made a mistake in separating the GB into England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Lets be honest, the game is played professionally in England and one club in Wales.
Why go to those lengths and create 4 sides out of one, and in effect making 4 weaker sides play against the strong sides of Australia and NZ?
If RL ever expands to those 4 nations it seems stupid to have a Scottish and Irish side.
I loved the Test Series that the GB side played against the Aussies, but a team called England does not have the same kudos about it.

Weaker? How many of the Scotland, Ireland or Wales players would get into the GB side?

As usual Brian I agree. I love Wigan with all my heart, but for me the International team comes first. I am pleased to say i also think we are starting to move in the right direction although it may be 5 year plus before we see the proof sadly.
Country over club every time for me. International rugby for me has to be the pinnacle of our game and my fondest memories of the game have come when we have turned the Aussies over.

Sorry I have to disagree, there was grown men in tears at old trafford, the club game has far more passion. Would you be in tears if England beat Australia??

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row

One of the greatest nights as an RL or Wigan supporter was in Melbourne 1992 when we beat the Aussies.
Lager on the cornflakes for breakfast, singing in the rain, the Wigan six pack. Supporters from ALL clubs English on a fantastic high, I really can't explain it, but then was when I realised the importance of International RL.

I wouldn't swap one of Wigan's Charity Shield wins for an Ireland RL World Cup win

Pat Richards ?
Brian Carney would have missed out.
On the whole, putting weak international sides such as Ireland Scotland and Wales does one thing only - boost the number of teams in an event. We need quality not quantity. Simple.

I am not sure you can disagree with my feelings you may not share them fair enough. I am a rugby league supporter over everything. I love to watch rugby and play it at every level. For me if Wigan were to go bust and cease to exist tomorrow I would be gutted but life would go on. Not being a Wiganer I try to watch at least one game live a weekend that may not be Wigan as its difficult being a dad with 2 young kids working all week training 4/5 nights a week, weekends have to be given to my family so I save trips to the DW for special occasions and try to stay local for my live fix and I love every game I attend. Be it SL or National League or amateur if i am not playing.
I am a passionate follower of Wigan and the transformation this season has filled me with joy, my wife a non rugby follower has noted my mood change this season, but I would trade all that to see us win a meaningful international series. To me there is no bigger enemy than the Aussies and I would give my left nut to see us turn them over and ram it down their arrogant throats.

But always supporting the greatest team in the greatest game - Wigan RLFC.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_52031.jpg |

| Rugby league is tribal, always has been -and my tribe is Wigan. Can't comment on England/GB because I have strong allegiance to two separate countries so am always a bit conflicted when it comes to the international scene. Well, apart from supporting anyone against Australia, of course.

29281_1270406980.jpg When Maurice sold me to Leeds something changed, it just not the same, the passion inside me just wasn’t the same as running out at Central park for my hometown club.
We need a change of culture here; we don’t want to be just happy with playing ok on Saturday at St Helens.
Ill make sure that from now on things will change, that players will be under pressure and will train a lot harder than they have before.

Personally, I have never had a REAL passion for the internationals and have always been a "club before country" person. What is everyone else's feelings towards Internationals...
Are you THAT bothered??'"
I certainly am. It costing me a shed load of dosh to go over to Aus next week. I suspect the fans that put club over country either weren't around or didn't support RL in the 80`s and early 90's. I can still remember some epic games between GB and Aus where the atmosphere was truly electric, even on a par with the grand final win.
I feel the RL have neglected the international game since around the mid nineties onwards and have devalued internationals by splitting GB up.
As esctatic as I was last week when we became Champions, winning the four nations or the ashes would to me be a far bigger achievement.
