I'm not sure Donald's challenge was late - was he already committed to the tackle? A 50/50 call.

However, once the penalty for a late challenge on a kicker was given, I believe it should have been where the ball landed. As this was in touch, it should have come 10 metres infield. Notice how keen Bentham was to tell Alibert where the penalty was - ball was moved back a few yards from where Pat had originally placed it!

Not 100% sure of this - I've only reffed schoolboy rugby union matches in the past 25 years. Certainly in union, the penalty would be 15 metres infield for a similar incident.
