| Quote: Paul Youane "It is obvious already that Wigan will be at home in the first week of the play-offs. There is plenty of time for Wigan Atheletic to re-arrange their fixture to suit. Surely your play-off match is a bigger fixture than Sunderland at home, so move that to the Sunday.
Easy fix.'"
You'd think so wouldn't you, but.......................

| How difficult can it be for the RFL and the FA to work together to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen? They know which stadiums are dual use, surely it's not that hard to look at each others fixtures and work around each other?

I doubt the FA give a toss, the more problems there are, the better the argument they have to ban dual use stadiums outright

It's nothing to do with the RFL or the FA. They'll just just leave it up to Ian Leneghan and Dave Whelan to sort out between them. There's no real reason for it to be an issue. If IL has any sense he will have made sure that Whelan has a decision to make as soon as the Premier League fixtures were announced. If Whelan decides to dig his heels in he'll really show himself up as a petty little man

Of course it has something to do with the RFL and the FA. They're the ones who draw up the fixtures. It wouldn't take any effort to make a note of which dual use stadiums have fixtures on weekends and to arrange their own fixtures around them. The FA should've looked at our fixtures and seen that the DW, the KC, and the Racecourse might be needed in September. Likewise the RFL should consider the football fixtures when they arrange our fixture list in November

| It'll probably get settled after Sky and ESPN announce their fixtures for Sept. It could be that Latics have a Sunday or Monday t.v. slot.

Both the FA and the RFL dont even draw the fixtures, they both pay for someone else to do them.

There was potential for two home games in May - we just got drawn away for both rounds of the Cup! The two normal Super League games we played were both at dual-use stadia, incidentally.

| I believe Blackpool have asked to swap their opening fixture against latics because their new stand won't be ready. If they reverse the fixture it could affect our game v Huddersfield.

I think you're giving both governing bodies too much credit

Not really. They manage to keep Old Trafford free for 1 weekend of the year, I don't see why that can't be expanded to make sure other grounds don't have fixture clashes. It wouldn't take the greatest minds in the land to come up with a way of avoiding fixture clashes, just a bit of cooperation.

| As Sky will be dictating which playoff game is played when, I can see them allocating Wigan v Sunderland for either Sunday afternoon or Monday night. There's only one "stand-out" fixture that weekend (Everton v Man Utd), so Sky could quite easily solve any problem before it ever becomes a problem.

Sky have to announce their first few weeks worth of fixtures by July 2nd.
