Quote: NickyKiss "When Hansen and Mossop are back the pressure for places in that backrow will be huge. It looks like only Joel and Lockers have a place nailed down and then after that we'll have Hansen, Bailey, Mossop, Farrell and Tuson fighting it out for one starting spot and more then likely one bench spot.'"

After what happened in the Leeds game I disagree. I think Maguire made it very clear he does not think neither Farrell or Tuson are ready for big physical games against the top sides.

Mossop has alot to prove as well as he was struggling to hold his place in the team before he got injured.

Hansen as much as I am not sure about him will be a welcome return to the squad if only for his solid defence.

I'll agree with you on Tuson there but Farrell got a fair bit of game time against Leeds. He'd have had more if he hadn't been binned so I'm not sure how Madge made it clear he doesn't thinbk Farrell is ready to mix it with the big boys yet. He's played in every game since he first broke into the squad unless I'm mistaken

Farrell only came on to replace the injured Joel T. He played 6 minutes then got binned and was not seen since.

Agree though with your comments about Farrell he has had plenty game time in previous matches it just seemed to me that Madge did not trust him enough to be on the field in such a big game.

Then why was he on the bench?

I rate Hansen think he has been superb this year.

I also think MM made a big error selecting Tunson on the bench over Feka, if he only intended to use him if it was not a close game, as appears to be the case.

We do forget at times though MM is still a novice lead coach and is still learning despite the excellent start he has made, only he can say if he made an error in his opinion on this and if he feels he did if he is as good a coach as I think he is i am sure he will learn form it.

You cannot play any team with only 15 men let alone Leeds.

Feka was not in the 17 as he would have got targetted in defence. Leed's have speed around the ruck and they would have run at Feka every minute he was on the field ala Monaghan in the cup semi last year.

I think Ben Davies should have been involved for a 20 minute spell or so. He would not get targetted around the ruck like Feka would and would offer some good impact going forward.

In Maguires defence when selecting the 17 for the match you have no idea how the game is going to pan out. Had Wigan got a comfortable lead in the match I have no doubt we would have seen both Farrell and Tuson involved.

I understand what you mean, but in such a close game when we were applying the pressure but lacked punch in the middle Feka would have been ideal. He can create something out of nothing especially close to the line. 1 spell of Feka on the attack for 60 seconds would have contributed more than Tunson was allowed to.

I am also sure that both Farrell and Tunson would have played more game time had we been running away with it, but I think if that was the idea behind the team selection it was very naive.

The coach selected but did not have faith in 1 potentially 2 players, now ok I understand the reasoning but why not have Feka sit on the bench and drag him on for 1 set when we have the ball near the line and ask him to take 3 of the 6 drives then pull him off rather than waiting those bench spots.

All 3 games we have lost we have attempted to defend a lead rather than win the game, this is my only criticism of MM as a coach thus far, but it cost us dear vs Leeds regards progressing in the cup.

Feka would have given us an extra option for just the situation we found ourselves as oppose to playing Leeds at home with 15 players.

Why have someone on the bench but not use them?
